Cold war..and some shakedown riding...
Hello there.
Last weekend still was chilly. So I did a little ride with my Ranger. Military road to the former german/german border Eastgerman Watchtower Borderline seen from east-german grounds . Gate 21 at Behrungen Thuringia. In cold war times the, "may be" refugee faced first: a minefield, eastgerman border guards, trained dogs.†If†they successfully approached the doublefence (wall) they had to overcome automatic release “shotgun†launchers. The black, red and gold borderpole is actually still a few meters within eastgerman grounds. So the Borderguards could still “legally†come for you ! ..... Russians were a really bad bunch in this era...... but eastgermans were worse…. I mean.. eating all these Babies for breakfast each morning…… The NVA guys (National peoples army) were told that the capitalist, imperialist (of course also babymunching) forces (US Army, Bundeswehr etc.†We!â€) were about to attack any time… to overwhelm the peace loving, socialist/communist people of the world…… A Barkas B1000 minibus and… the Ranger. Now this week we have a kind of strawberryspring. Temperatures are a mild +10° Celsius. I did some riding and then the 150k service to my V-Raptor No metallc residue however.. Valve cleareance was fine. Due to the odd position of the oilfiller orifice…….improvised funnel… Luggage roll and mini tankbag. Shopping can be fun…join the holy holy.. shoppingsutra..everyoo.. one …(if some of us remember the musical HAIR….) Impressions from last Thursday. At the Saale river So far…. the sun is up, still strawberryspring…I am going to do some a….â€necessary†ridin regards Panic-Pete

The East German border shots are chilling. Thanks for that bit of history.
Glad to hear that you're not fiding any schrapnel in the filter. Your bike looks great, and I'd really like to take one of those for a ride. The only thing I remember from Hair is Beverly D'Angelo.
