Planning a Baja California trip.

For those who wish to know...may only apply to Culcune, I am in the early stages of planning a trip to an off-road area about an hour and a half from Mexicali for a weekend. The destination is called Hacienda Santa Veronica. Looks to be a very nice area with ample trails leading to all points within Baja.

Hope you have a GPS if you are going alone. Be careful! Sounds like a heck of alot of fun! I'm Jealous of good trails and warm weather.

Liverchip, is it near San Felipe, as that is one landmark I know, even though I have never been there?

Getting lost is not an issue.
1) I always carry a GPS and a cell phone(For all the good it does in Baja)
2) I have a local with me.(My brother in law)
3) Been in the area before)

It looks like a cool place. However, I am not able to make it the 24th, and I am supposed to work the 25th, but..... :wink:

It doesn't look too far from Calexico/Mexicali--on the way to the (arguably) the best Mexican-made beer that they named a town after, Tecate. Which crossing would you take, Calexico or Tecate?

(Hey we will finally see what 700 posts looks like, although I think MdSuave should have really gotten the honor)

I don't think I would take a bike across there, though. I keep having setbacks with getting my new engine, so it won't be ready by then :( , but Calexico would be my crossing as it looks like some decent roads to Rumorosa; if the road south to the ranch isn't the consistency of beach sand.

(As far as Chuck Norris mowing my lawn--has anyone seen him, my grass has not been mowed for months---He's fired!!)

haha, i dont want the honor, if chuck norris gets wind that you have a title like that, hes going to roundhouse kick chinariders off the internet... haha.

the server that this site resides on, will land on your china bike which will explode killing you swiftly..

I hear a big warmup headed my way this weekend... might hit low 50's F... wooooooo baby... but the ground is all slop.

Well, we don't have dirt per se, so no clay, either. They take bits of desert, and develop on it; literally on top of sand! We do have cactus, but I think that the stereotypical saguaro cactus has been virtually eliminated from the immediate Yuma area by poachers (believe it or not!) In the area surrounding us, you can find a few, and as you travel east towards Phoenix or Tucson, you see more and more of them in the desert. Any soil is artificial for the most part. There are many homes that have pebbles or stones instead of grass.
