I found the Lifan, 150cc wiring harness for sale at the following websites.

http://www.pccmotor.com/150cc-engine...150505002.html
http://stores.wholesale-cycle.com/-s...ESS/Detail.bok
http://www.tboltusa.com/store/lifan-...f1c7aaab84eaf8
http://www.24mx.com/pitbike/p/wiring...-harness/s416/

Of course, you can also buy the Zongshen, 200GY-2 wiring harness. I imagine Pitster Pro might also sell the Lifan, 150cc wiring harness.

If someone bought two of these wiring harnesses, he could fabricate an adapter that would allow him to easily switch between either the Lifan, 150cc CDI unit, or the Zongshen, 200GY-2 CDI unit. This adapter would be particularly handy if someone wished to experiment with the Lifan, 150cc, performance CDI unit.

Hy.Lifans diagram shows wire positions on CDI watching it from above.
I replaced the wiring diagram for Zong becouse i draw it kind of mirrored...
Watching from above first Zongs diagram showed wire position in HARNESS (replaced),now it shows wire positions on CDI.
Sorry for posting wrong diagram.
Now its good!
Will update...

It has been about 6 months since your last report, Azriel. Have you made any progress experimenting with the Lifan CDI unit?

i second that

i second that! even though i have two spare zong cdi s it would be interesting to hear of someone who tried the lifan cdi. my zong is running well, so i don t want to turn it into a project over this (other projects like quality tyres and a quarter turn throttle and a headlight/foglight combo are on my eventually-to-do-list).

Hi guys!
First of all,SORRY for not hearing of me for so long!
From 2. to 7. month is really a mess on my job...(photovaltaic modules)
Regarding Lifans CDIs, they were listed on Ebay for 20$ + 20$ shipping fo Croatia...call me cheap, but i thought its too much so i waited a bit ( a BIT? )
SO- yesterday i finally had luck-lifans CDI for 19,99$ ,free shipping worldwide!!! :P
Bought it,paid it & now just need to wait 10-15 days until it arrives.
Then ill try it and report my results...with wiring diagram of course
If it works, and i hope it will, then ill order lifans wiring harnes for making an adapter ( also new price on ebay- 12$ free shipping )
Cant wait ....

Hi!
Well,its been a while...& i recieved my lifans cdi!
After changing wire positions in zongs harnes i succesfully started the beast!

It was little tricky with pickup wires-bike starts only in one combination of these 2 wires. Stator wires can be placed as you wish,it fires in both cases (+ or - if You can understand what i mean- bad english :oops

BUT! Theres always a "but" -IN NEAUTRAL it starts fine, idles fine but when i reach aprox. 3000 rpm it just starts rapidly backfiring and when i release the throtle it dies 8O 8O ?!?!
When puting it in gear & trying to ride it dies even on lower rpms?!
I repeat- in neautral it starts fine, idles fine but wont go above 1/3 throtle, just dies there somewhere. Then i need to leave it sitting for 10 sec before i can start it again. I think im flooding it when punching it too hard...

SO

I suspect that the impulse from cdi to coil is too weak , or that i need a stronger coil? Ill try to measure the impulse voltage from the zongs cdi and the lifans cdi and compare them.

Maybe a stronger coil would do the trick?

A better sparkplug?

Any opinions/sugestions are welcome!

P.S. will upload wiring diagram, didnt make any yet.

Maybe the advance timing for the Lifan CDI unit is different? :?:

Can you give us an update regarding your experiments with the Lifan CDI unit, Azriel? Also, we would love to see your wiring diagram.

Hi guys!
To be honest i have not solved this problem...& im starting to think i never will :(
It just idles, you can punch it a bit in neautral with some backfiring, but this isnt rideable condition...

I think its what Master Spud said-different advanced timing...
Anyway,im looking for a spare Zongs CDI,just in case :?
As kilometers go im starting to have a bad CDI hunch...
Any worldwide shipping shops availible? Any links? I would appriciate it very much!

P.S. another project is in progress , pics and full info when its over.

Greetings and a safe season to all of You!
Azriel

Thanks for posting the update, Azriel. I'm sorry you couldn't make the Lifan, CDI unit work, but thanks for performing the experiment! You made a very good effort.

Pliskin is trying to get a Zongshen CDI unit from Taobao, in China. Check out his link in the Dual Sport Forum.
