Stator coil (Magneto)?

Well folks, after 4000km, my Skyteam decided to give me his first grin. The two bolts that hold the stator coils assembly got loose and the coils started rubbing against the flywheel:

I neglected the rattling from the left side of the engine and today it stopped...

I think it's a "standard" OHC Honda clone engine (has 166FMM code on it):

Any suggestions where I can get new assembly from?

CB's (~6.2) hole is 1mm bigger than the std CG (~5.2). If the std CG parts don't fit, just drill it.
Why not change to 3 phase all-DC http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=1651715694

Egads! 8O I can't offer good advice for finding parts. However, I do recommend you put red locktite on those bolts when you install the new stator.

If I change to this stator, I guess I'll have to change the rectifier, right?

Indeed Spud, there will be lots of Loctite.... and one feather washer for that matter.

Besides changing to a DC-CDI unit, you would also have to change you wiring harness. For example, you would need to feed 12V+ to the DC-CDI unit. Also, you would need to change the wiring for your kill switch, et cetera. The kill switch grounds the output from an AC-CDI unit, while the kill switch removes the 12V+ input to a DC-CDI unit.

I think you will have much less work if you get a replacement stator which will support your current, AC-CDI unit, regulator/rectifier, and wiring harness.

Well, I'm waiting for the UK importer of Skyteam to give me a quote, and actually Skyteam in China themselves replied to my inquiry and will point me towards a suitable retailer (waiting for their reply also).

In the meantime, judging from the looks only, mine seems to be pretty much like any these:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/110957724551

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281094064688

Later I'll measure it in detail to know what I'm looking for exactly.

If use non CB stator , soldering iron may need because the trigger (pickup) is on different parament. the "CG" one also need drill a bigger hole.

Hey humanbeing,
Thanks. I think this one is "the one":
http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=20657952333

but the price seems low compared to the hundreds other stators I looked at in taobao. Is there a catch I'm missing (Google is not translating much from the page)?

Hi Krasi,

I got my V-Raptor here:

http://www.herter-quads.de/

I'm sure they can get the parts and send them to you.

Look here:
http://www.herter-quads.de/images/st...ngineparts.pdf

Do you have the 125 or the 250?

Thanks, Trailbikeryder. I dropped them an email. I hope they speak English, as my German is good only to get me into trouble

I actually got a quote from the UK importer, but the price is 67.45 GBP, plus shipping! I find that way too much for my cheap a$$.

In parallel, I wrote to Skyteam themselves and they replied. The price they quote is US14.50 w/o shipping! Now, we need to find a suitable shipping option. As a last resort I plan to ask www.tbtrends.com (thanks, Weld) to receive and relay it for me as if I bought it from taobao.

I must say I'm impressed with the customer support of Skyteam. In the past, when I was looking to purchase the bike, they did quote me a price for a single bike. Now, they are helping me with that. I promised to spread the word about it, so:

Skyteam factory customer service is excellent! I highly recommend them!

THis is what it would cost from Germany to Bulgaria.

8,90 Euro
Max 2 kg (max. L+B+H=90 cm)
length+height+width = not more then 90cm

15 Euro
Max 5 kg (max. 120 x 60 x 60cm)

If you need help to ship parts from Germany, I could do that for you.
How much do the weigh?

Thanks, Trailbikeryder. I'm still waiting for response from Herter Quads, though.

humanbeing, yesterday I checked in person one CG stator and unfortunately it's not only the mounting holes that are different. Its core is narrower, i.e. windings are different, and also the pickup coil mounting holes are further apart.

In the meantime, I continue with the (sort of) "reverse engineering" and noticed a logo on the inside of the stator cover:

Any idea who's that? Google image search can't match it with anything.

Hi Krasi,

any response from Herter? I could call them.

Maybe I should check my Magneto? Maybe my screws are loose also?
(from magneto I mean!!)

I have 3200 km on the bike now.

Eric
