Yes, the pumper does the same thing as a "tickler" used to do. Both methods 'prime' the engine with vaporising fuel in order to make starting, especially cold starting, much easier...ARH

Well that sure wasn't mine at first, There is your opening! It would fire up immediately with the starter but the starter is faster than my leg kick I guess. my carb was a Keihin knock off.
