Two piece rods boost torque by 30%?

Transcend Energy Group claims their piston rods boost torque by 30%. They say the extra joint in the rod increases piston velocity and decreases piston side loads.
It is a simple concept. More at the link.

I don't get it. Seems like they could just make the piston longer and move the wrist pin farther away from the crown and achieve the same thing with less weight.

According to the article, there is no independent testing or much detail from the company itself. Sounds scammy. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof.

Really interesting. I can see how taking some of the thrashing out of the movement would make it rotate more efficiently by jointing the rod. Concerns would be having the underside of the piston completely filled with mass making it heavier. The other concern would be simply "more moving parts". Maybe I'm just paranoid. When I was in high school, chucking a rod out the bottom of my Nova at redline was a violence I'll never forget. ;-)

Nope, sold it cheap. At age 20 I didn't know much about mechanics and bringing it back to life.
