Roger got a Duck!

2004 ST3.

Significantly underpriced (over $1,000 below market) and nailed by the King Of Craigslist 1 hour after it was posted.

Roger has been looking for a high performance sport touring bike for a few months. We were looking at FJR's and Concurs, but they are very very heavy. We looked at VFR's and Sprints, but they lack integrated luggage. V-Stroms were too tall and heavy and wide, and he does not like Harleys.

He did fall in love with Sophia when he saw and rode her though. Of course, what red blooded male would not? Heck even females want her ;-)

We checked out many bikes, and a few Multistradas, but he preferred the Ducati ST series.

They are rare. I had to look about 6 months to find Sophia.

Ironically, both of our bikes were owned by pastors.

We drive to Tillamook Sunday to pick it up.

The bike is on the Oregon Coast. It will have to adapt to the golden brown of the desert when it gets here.

Red goes well with either green, or brown. Congratulations to Brother Roger, and The Undisputed King of Craigslist.

He's happy. He bought a like new DUCATI with 7,000 miles for almost exactly what he sold his heavily used KLR650 for.

"2004 with only 7,000 original miles! Bike is in awesome condition and needs nothing. It has a Zero Gravity smoke touring windscreen (not pictured), Heli-Bar risers, heated grips, Staintune exhaust, Manic Salamander throttle control. I have a clear title and most of the stock parts. I really like this bike and don't want to sell but I need the cash right now. $4,500 Call Kevin at .......)

Lovely machine. I hope you got some fresh Tillamook cheese while you were there.

It will be a very long day. 6 hours each way with a field trip to Moto Corsa in Portland. They are one of the biggest Ducati dealers in the country. Much drooling needs to be done. I have some Tillamook cheese in the fridge.

I currently have, for the moment, two nearly identical Ducatis in my garage.

It was a family reunion. These gals have not seen each other since they rolled off the assembly line in Bologna, Italy ten years ago.

He got the bike.

It was, as advertised, in the ballpark of perfect.

Roger and I drove 5 hours each way and took it home on my little trailer. I test rode it in a driving Oregon Coast rainstorm and I loved it. With proper gear on I was warm and dry and invigorated. I could have ridden it all the way home.

Roger and I enjoyed the experience together and 13 hours of conversation and fellowship.

I'll take some pics today after church.

We should be going for a ride this afternoon. Partly sunny and fairly warm out. Can't wait.

We visited the Moto Corsa Ducati dealership in Portland. It is the largest Ducati dealership in the country and about the biggest in the world, including Italy. We viewed, fondled, and got out greasy fingerprints on dozens of the hundred or more Ducatis they have in stock.

Including a $70,000 Desmosedici.

And the Terra Corsa, a 200 HP, 190 MPH 'dualsport' 1198R.

It was a marvelous place. Like the motorcycle equivilent of the Playboy mansion, without the sin.

I also took a Royal Enfield out for a spin. They sell them, and MV Agusta, there as well.

The RE is a Chinariders dream bike. I'll tell you all more later if you are interested.

They did not let me out on the Agusta, but at about $30,000 I can see why.

I love those Royal Enfields. Their classic styling just speaks to me. . .
