Thought I would post pics of a Templar x cat slit open and removed I found on FB. That thing has got to be restrictive.

They're rarely as restrictive as everyone thinks they are but removing it might free up a horse. More with a cam, porting, etc. I like the way it was done with a single cut. It makes it so much easier to keep perfect alignment when welded back together. Looks like I need a MIG welder and some practice pipe.

Whether it winds up being 1hp or 2hp from removing that cat, it is definitely felt in the seat of the pants as i can attest when the pipe was replaced on my Brozz. I look forward to doing it on the TempX.. wish they had a replacement header that fit on Amazon

Hypothetically, if it does improve flow, then running a bigger carburetor and jetting appropriately should yield even more...right?

The replacement carb listed in the Templar 250 resource guide is not available for purchase on Amazon, and it's a 30mm. Wouldn't the carb I have listed below be the better choice? It is a 28mm (just like the stock Templar 250 carb) and it's available for purchase:

Oh No Nix on the pod filter idea

I have seen posts here where people ask if anyone has tried a pod filter on the Templar X. I don't know about the Templar and Templar M, but the carb on the Templar X aims at the rear shock spring, and there just isn't any room for a pod filter.

But, the snorkel has a nice smooth internal surface that snakes around to a VERY LARGE opening with a BIG OILED DOME FILTER. I don't think a pod filter would be better even if you COULD get it in there! In fact, a pod filter might be more restrictive. That dome filter offers a lot of surface area and it is very porous. Air must flow past that dome filter quite freely, and the large surface area allows for good filtering as well.

I think the answer is to keep the dome filter clean, and replace it if it gets too fouled to clean.

If you install a different carb, good luck on mating the snorkel. If you changed your carb, have you got a picture of this????

Below is the windshield I'm thinking about getting. I want something minimal--similar to what you see on KTM and Honda Rally. Ebay link below.

Here's a link to it on Ebay:

Air/fuel mixture screw location?

Is the mixture screw hiding behind the silver cap that is between 7 and 8 o'clock from the idle screw when looking at the carb straight on?

Thanks in advance

Yep.

All:
Over on thumper talk someone claims that one of the headers off of a “250R” will fit the Templar-anyone else verify that?

Only thing that really makes me wonder is airflow to the air box-the battery tray takes a lot of room.

Hey Okierider. I’m embarrassed to ask. But where is the fuse box?
