Knocking noise came out of nowhere
Hello everyone
My 250cc 169FMM motorcycle got a knocking noise suddenly, it is new, it only has 600 km, the noise seems to come from the bottom of the engine, I was suspecting a valve lash issue, but not sure if that's the issue since the noise seems to come from the bottom of the engine, not the top I made the first oil change already, it took 1 liter. Thanks for your help. |

Mine takes 1 us quart. =.946 liter. About right just make sure you top off correctly by sight.

I took it to the mechanic today, he thinks the camshaft is the suspect, it could have ran low on oil, overheated and caused the issue, I didn't measured the quantity of oil that I took off when I did the last oil change, so I don't know if it was low; the overheat issue is a possibility, I drive a lot in heavy traffic with lots of idling involved, being an air cooled engine I guess it doesn't like idling, i will keep commuting on my scooter and leave the 250 for the faster roads and off road usage.
