Registration online VERMONT

I live in buffalo ny and have registered both my china bikes here. A friend of mine recently told me that instead of spending almost $300 to register my apollo deluxe here in NY why not just register it online through Vermont and maybe later if I need to just transfer the plates. I have heard some people talk about this but I am not sure if it would be worth it. I think he said Vermont is way cheaper than the almost $300 NY charges. Im open to just doing it in NY and just bite the price bullet, I dont mind, as long as I get to ride. BUT if I can do Vermont , spend less fees and get to ride then id love that too! Let me know what you guys think. Thanks

Vermont is supposed to be pretty flexible with registration, but I've never done it myself.

Added Bonus you won’t have to go get a stupid inspection sticker every year, as long as you stay out of Vermont. I’m doing this on bikes from here out.

It’s hard to find an MC state inspection station around here. Last guy hit me $50 and never saw my bike, he just wanted my paperwork. I’m not gonna do that again.

Just curious about this. Do you need to get insurance through VT if you have a VT plate on your bike or can you still with whomever you're with already?

Lots of people have, but I've only seen it on the internet. I'm going to do that eventually with an xr200 I have.

Hey everyone! I just said screw it and went the Vermont way. During these strange times I am not wanting to put I believe the lady said $289 into registering my bike here in NY. I did the paper work, wrote the $155 check and added the bill of sale to an envelope and mailed it off to Vermont a few minutes ago. I will make sure to update you guys on what happens, how it works and if everything goes smooth. To add to the madness DMVs in Buffalo are completely closed down as of a few days ago and in Vermont they are still open. I saw on a forum about the Vermont registration way saying that It takes a few weeks, so again ill update you guys!

Great! I read that they require proof that sales tax was paid. Was that proof on your bill of sale?

No sales tax on the bill of sale that they gave me, it has all other info and I paid the fee that the lady asked on the phone haha So I am hoping they dont need anymore info. She said they just need bill of sale so that they can see that I bought it from somewhere and that the total amount of money I paid showed up on the bill. In total she said just put bill of sale showing how much I paid for apollo and make sure it has a signature from vendor, a check for $155, and the Vermont registration form. Hopefully that does the trick!

Nope not that I know of...I mean if I never had an issue in strict NY state registering china bikes, I absolutely doubt Vermont will say anything to me because its a china bike. I also know that MANY people went this route! I would just say go for it. Only downfall is that you have to send in your stuff then wait like 2-4 weeks to get your plate. But to me its worth the wait and its also cold and rainy in Buffalo so I won't be riding anyway. Funny thing is I still have my plate from my Bashan but dont have my registration sticker on it so I don't want to chance being pulled over.
