Knobby tires

I have the stock tires on my bike.

100/90-18 front
130/70-17 rear

I want to put on some knobby tires.

What do you recommend?

Depends on how knobby you need them. When I did the Continental Divide Trail, I put a TKC80 on the front and a TKC70 on the back. I really liked the TKC70 and would put those on any adv bike, unless you really need the knobs of the TKC80.

Only real problem with the TKC80 is they wear out so quickly, especially on the road. You might only get 2500 miles out of one.

What ever you put on the rear make sure to stay with the original tire size. If you go much bigger the larger tire will bottom out on the inner fender and you will eventually wear a hole in the plastic inner fender as many of us have already found out. rj

Currently have Kenda 270 front and rear but will need to change soon. 3.50-18 on the front and 510/17 rear. Fairly knobbie. Have had the rear bottom out when fully loaded on rough forest service roads.

Will probably go with the Shinko 244 in the same sizes and tread pattern. Or run the Shinko 244 front and Shinko 700 rear. I have run the 244's in the past a KLR 650 and on the tt250 with good results for road manners and off-road capability. They wear pretty well too.

I like the Shinko or Kenda's anything more aggressive you don't really need as the Zong suspension is not made for off road. IMHO there is a sticky on top that covers tire options

Shinko E-804 crossfly front, E-805 crossfly rear. Front 100/90/19, rear 130/80/17. So far they are great.
