Mulholland Vids

http://www.youtube.com/user/rnickeymouse#p/a

I guess this guy sets up on Mulholland and gets the action on video. Lots of crashes on bikes. Check out the guy on the scooter. I got a chuckle out of the one with the Miata in it. Jay Leno even cruises by in one of the vids.

Thanks for the vids.

Lotsa low side action, but the one that threw the guy over the rail was pretty scary! The guy in the Miata was hilarious.

I never did see the scooter or Leno.

Thank you for sharing the videos, Cal. I also enjoyed seeing the police catch the Miata driver. Some of those videos are pretty good examples of "Darwin awards!"

The guy who went over the guardrail was very lucky to escape serious injury! 8O Based on the way he was riding, I think he was very foolish trying to negotiate that curve aggressively!

I think that was his "Tank Car" Powered by a Patton tank motor. About 800 hp and boat loads of torque.

Jay has several steam cars i think including a couple of Stanley Steamers.

He has a huge garage full of interesting cars and the best part is that he likes to drive them all.

I wonder if the steam cars are street legal? :?:

I think Jay Leno has a great garage. I can only hope he spends more of his money on cars and motorcycles, and gives less to politicians of dubious worth.

Back when I was in the PRK I frequently shredded Mulholland Drive when I was in SoCal with my bike. Great road but WAY too overpatrolled both by cops, and morons.

I'd much rather ride in the mountains or desert of Idaho, Oregon, or Washington!

I'm surprised to see that black sportbike lowside at a very modest lean angle at fairly low speed. I wonder if there was oil on the pavement. It looks like my 400 or Gold Wing could have handled that speed/angle with room to spare.

Scary! 8O

I couldn't quite tell for sure, but it almost looked like the same guy that dropped his bike in the first vid was the same guy that ran into the guardrail a few vids down? Almost looked like someone just learning to ride... Poor choice of bikes to learn on!

My first thought when I saw a few of the vids was "Did the guy taking the vids sprinkle sand or something on the turn?" Really did not look like that difficult of a turn.

Then again, The photo op might have tempted some into riding over their skill level. The guy on the scooter looked as if he was tucking down to get that last little bit of speed out of it.

My guess is distraction followed by loss of concentration = dumping it.

You can imagine you're enjoying your ride and you come around the first turn and start the second and suddenly you see 5 cameras and a bunch of people looking at you and you are naturally drawn to it thinking, "what the hell" .. then suddenly you're flying over the gaurdrail.

I'm surprised nobody's bitched about these guys setting up shop there waiting to capture someone killing themselves and making it even more of a hazard.

Ed Hertfelder, "The Duct Tapes", mostly about enduro rides, but one story about a club road racer...seems he had a rather "well endowed" girlfriend. She would stand at the outside of one particular left hander and give the other guys a "look"... 8O
Made up lots of places that way...
