Hi Jeremy, any update on the rear shock that you felt was getting a bit beaten up?

I've done a few thousand km on my YBR125G now (only been in Phils for about 6 weeks of the year so far), including a trip around / across most of Negros, and 2-up / loaded the rear shocks pogo a bit, and also bottom out once in a while.
Plus, while the power is fine 1-up, two up it is borderline on the bigger island. I was only passed a few times (and re-passed them in the next construction zone or town), but at times the more aggressive bus drivers had me running the motor harder than I liked (90 km/h).

I sat on the X155 again (more dirt roads here), and the shock seemed to sag quite a bit with my 200 (or so) lb. I'm thinking that adding 50 kg of passenger and another 20 to 30 kg of luggage would push it over the top.

A dedicated 2-up touring bike may be in my future, either the YBR with habal habal dual spring shocks and some gearing changes, or maybe one of the 'business' bikes like the Motorstar X155 IIA (http://www.motorstar.com.ph/products/star-x155-iia), Kawasaki Barako 175 (a bit stiff out back), or the Honda TMX155.

My SO hates these bikes, so we will see.

The replacement shock thing is interesting, I rode a Honda Wave 125 with dual spring habal habal replacement shocks, and it worked really well two up, only bottoming out the front suspension on the bigger bumps. Far more compliant two-up than the same bike with the stock shocks at 8000 km.

For $26, a major improvement...

If I go this route, then I am free to go for a 1-up bike like the Moto X155.

Hi tony, the squeeking was sue to bad rubber bushings. probably because of the dirt....
It was repaired, and now ok.

indeed 2 up is quite a challenge for this bike. i am also 200pounder, i adjusted the rear at stiffest, and if my wife rides at the back (which is only about thrice since, just for getting something from the store) it was ok.
then again, i wont bring anyone if i ride longer.... just me being not so used in having back rides.

Thanks Jeremy, I'll probably keep it as a one-up bike as well.

Maybe I should do some looking around to see if the spring can be changed out for something heavier?

I'm 90% certain I'll add the X155 to the stable when I get back later this month, if the dealer will let me play around with the shock sag to see that it falls within the usual 25 - 30% range for my weight once preload adjusted.
I'm willing to bet that the static (bike only) sag at that setting will be 0, indicating the shock is sprung too soft...

Any idea what the travel is on front and rear suspension?

I had a look in the owners manual, and while there is a bit on servicing the front fork, IIRC it just mentions replacing the rear shock if it wears.

I must see if I can track down an electronic copy workshop manual somewhere. I got one for my YBR, kind of eye-opening with some of the specs that are not published elsewhere. Also kind of worrying with some of the inaccuracies...

still only close to 4000kms mark. I only do offroad, barely reaching 150kms every other saturdays...
