You did pretty good there, Spud. I've got a bunch of notes laying around that I wrote to myself and I can't read them. I may send them to you...

Hey, we'll be at the LA Fairplex this weekend showing the Cyclone to the Lucas Off-Road Expo crowd. If anyone is in the area, please see us in Building 6, Booth 6109.

Had a nice visit from an LA Times editor this morning...this bike is getting some good press.

Here's a cool photo...about $9K or $10K for the DL650, $3495 in front for the Cyclone. Check out today's CSC blog at www.CaliforniaScooterCo.com/blog.



You guys and gals who jumped on the boat...you did good. You'll be talking about that deal for decades. $3495 is still a hell of a deal, too.

I would stop by to visit, but it's a 12.5-hour ride from Idaho to the L.A. Basin, Joe.

I didn't see a 17-inch rear wheel on your notes. Do you still plan to import the larger wheel?

Quite likely. I can't see the point to simply compressing the oil chamber with Nitrogen. It makes more sense to inflate a bladder that pressurizes the oil reservoir.

I believe this is a link to the Qingqi/QLink/Konker 200GY shock absorber.

It appears to have a schrader valve, and claims to have 'ballon-type damping.' It looks very similar to the silhouette of the RX3 shock absorber.

The RX3 shock employs shims in an oil reservoir to provide rebound damping. The shims, oil reservoir, and control screw are located at the bottom of the shock absorber.



Compression damping is usually provided by an external reservoir which contains nitrogen gas, and an air bladder. The external reservoir usually has a screw for adjusting the level of compression damping. Here is the parts diagram for the shock absorber of my 2004 Honda CRF250X.



The external reservoir allows you to rebuild the shock, and also provides for greater volumes of oil and nitrogen.

That is a new design to me that I'm unfamiliar with. I'll be interested to find out if your new bike has the same valve, and if you notice much of a difference. Also, please confirm the actual center to center length, since I think the original length that was posted was overall.

Yes, I certainly will let you know. I'm sure all of us will be reporting many discoveries after we receive our motorcycles.

Here is a Rocky Mountain ATV/MC video which describes how to rebuild the shock absorber of the Kawasaki KLR650. This Kawasaki shock also employs nitrogen within the shock body, instead of an external reservoir.



However, I think the nub on the RX3 shock absorber might be a bolt for adjusting the five preload settings of the shock spring.

Here is a link to another Chinese shock absorber with a schrader valve, and adjustable rebound damping. It is somewhat similar to the RX3 shock absorber.

Maybe I need to look closer at such shocks on TB, for Lifanda. I purchased a used ZX-6 shock, but something like the shock in your pic would be an easier fit with no fabrication.

That was an excellent video. I can see that I'll need to buy the Tusk spring compressors, rather than using wrenches as I have in the past.
