So I finally loaded the software that comes with the bike and played around with it. As is common with China bikes, the instructions are not well translated. I wonder if a Chinese speaker could make the procedure more clear for those of us in English speaking places??

The software looks fairly well done, it loaded right up and started talking to the bike with no issues. The first mode I used is called "Running" mode and it basically shows things like throttle position, temperature, O2 signal, etc.

The instructions tell you to enter "Debug" mode to turn the throttle to full while you put the key to "on". This put us in tuning mode!

The next part says to wait for the "0" position to turn green, then go to 4, 8, 12, 16, 32, etc.. The motor revs waaay to high at these throttle positions so I wondered if this was to be done on a dynometer or something??

So, I rigged the laptop up with some zip ties to see if I could get it to "Tune" while riding.

So as you understood it, these steps were to be taken while the engine was running, or with just the ignition on?

When I check the little "Remote" box on the right side, I get the bigger numbers; these start out red and then turn green as they are deemed "tuned" I am GUESSING.



As you can see my "Oxygen Correction" is near 74 at my home. Elevation here is about 4950 Ft (1500 meters).

I rode the bike around with the laptop and tried to get the throttle opening to hold steady at each number. This worked fairly well in the lower range, but became more difficult at the higher throttle openings. (This was in a local school parking lot)

So I decided to ride up a local canyon road. The laptop didn't like the vibrations from higher revs and loads, causing it to lock up a few dozen times. I never could figure out if any real tuning had been done. Most tuning software has a way to "load" the tuning and accept any changes, but this does none of that and never indicates when it is finished.

Any clues as to what the box that says "Hello" or the one that looks like a place to enter an IP address would be nice. I've talked to the dealer and written several emails to KAYO. Kayo did reply, but told me that the technical department could not allow access to support or the full software at this time. (I did offer to pay for the services and support.) So I'm at a kind of dead end with this. It runs good, but it resets to the sea level map each time I start it- which sends the O2 correction to 130, which is way too rich and makes for some hard hot starts at altitude.

With it running; the instructions warn against overheating the bike while doing the tuning procedure.

There are NO drop down menus; what is on the screen is all you get.

Makes me wonder if the IP address allows you access to the tuning maps via a browser interface??

Sorry,... of course, it has to get feedback from its sensors ,etc.

I may suggest that the lock up issue with the computer was caused by the disruption of data thru the patch cable which there is not much to be done about . Like you say, seems like you need to do this on a bench rig of some type.

Looks neat, I m sure with a little time you will figure things out

Maybe it just needs to be up on a center stand and running? I would think you would want 'remote' unchecked/turned off. That implies to me having someone at another computer remotely view or tune the bike.

The 'remote' has to be checked or the large tuning number that changes from red to green aren't there.

Maybe 'remote' means 'connection with laptop'???? The issue is probably translation.

I suspect there's an IP interface that you haven't got the hardware for, or they may have included that in the software for planned functionality.

So the issue to set the program is to set the o2 sensor to your elevation? Correct?

Could you try the throttle steps with the chain detached from the bike or perhaps this is not good idea? There you could work on it parked and use fans for cooling to aid the radiator fan. Are you supposed to do these throttle steps in a particular gear? How high is the last throttle step, does it red line the rpm?

I'm sure you thought of all these , just thinking aloud.

Currently working or not, it's VERY cool I'm sure you'll get it figured out. On the flipside, I sure wish we could get something like this for the RX3!!

If I try doing the throttle steps in neutral I am redlining the motor just past 4. It's also nearly impossible to hold any number in neutral.


I'm mostly concerned with o2 correction for trips above 10,000 feet(3000 meters). It is very rich at startup.
