You make a good point. I like those soft bags.

The Garage Pro Travel Trunk is really nice even if you are just running errands around town, or shopping for groceries. ;) It nice to secure your items in a locked trunk while you are visiting different stores. :) In addition, you can easily remove the trunk, and keep the panniers, if you are going for a day ride. ;)

I just got an email verification; my Garage Pro Travel Trunk has shipped. :D

MotoJ 12-15-2014 09:59 AM

Ordered the Garage Pro

... but I think I messed up- I got the Medium. Too late to exchange for a Large- Live Chat said the order was already processed and ready to ship about 10 minutes after I placed the order.

Will a Medium fit a helmet?
I want it for store runs- put the helmet in the box when I go in, put the groceries in the box when I leave. If I could fit my jacket and the helmet that would be a plus. Anyone have a Medium? How much stuff can you cram in there?

Weld,

I think you will agree; the road to Bonneville got pretty rough in places. ;) I have traveled thousands of miles over similar roads, at high speeds, with a fully loaded, J.C. Whitney Travel Trunk attached. I haven't had any problems. :)

As a side note, I can vouch that Chinese motorcycles are built tough, to perform as work vehicles, not recreational toys. That's one of the reasons Chinese bikes are significantly heavier than Japanese motorcycles. ;) Unlike a dirt bike, an adventure bike definitely needs to be built in this manner, with a very strong subframe to support heavy loads. I am thoroughly confident the Zongshen RX3 is built tough, and will prove to be a strong, reliable motorcycle. :) Therefore, I won't hesitate to mount a Garage Pro Travel Trunk on my Zongshen RX3.

I agree on all points. I think it would take a significant crash to harm one of these travel trunks.

Glad to hear so much confidence in the Zong frames. I'm not a big fan of top boxes or hard luggage and probably won't even install either when i build my RX3. I'm a fan of soft luggage and probably do something like this.

I like my weight low and forward.

Not just the Zong frames, but all China bike frames that I've seen.

I like those soft bags. I see they're depicting a fuel bottle in the pocket; I use one of those for gasoline, rather than camping fuel.

Thanks for the reply, but I think you misunderstood my question. I'm asking if anyone here already has a Medium and how much stuff can they fit in it?

I'm sorry to report your helmet will not fit in the medium travel trunk. :ohno: Perhaps you can order a large trunk, and try to sell the medium trunk?

If you are running errands to the hardware store, et cetera, you might like the medium travel trunk. However, I much prefer the large travel trunk, and wouldn't get anything smaller. ;)

You can fit two bags of groceries in the large travel trunk, and it will hold a lot of gear when you take a multi-day adventure on your bike.

Ah. I'll keep it and put it on the sidecar rig. I can store stuff in there if the sidecar is full of dog.

I received my Medium Travel Trunk and I'm happy to report it does fit my medium size full face Icon Alliance helmet, as well as an ancient Shoei RF200. It doesn't quite fit my Fulmer ADV style helmet- the chin bar is just barely too long.
So anyway, it should be big enough for my purposes. I may get another medium and then a large and build a rack for a hard-bag system. These JC Whitney cases seem plenty rugged. Can't beat them for the money, that's for sure!

Thanks for the update. I'm glad to hear I was mistaken, and the medium travel trunk holds two of your helmets. Indeed, these travel trunks are excellent values. :)

I also received my large travel trunk this morning. :)

Weldangrind 12-20-2014 11:34 AM

Spud, have you always purchased the large size?

I'm sure you're intentionally misunderstanding me. Of course it doesn't hold two at once, but two different model helmets, one at a time. I didn't know this was an English grammar class as well as a motorcycle forum, lol.
