in one of the review youtubes, a guy compares it to the rx3 english version (honley or something) decides there's no issue the re is much better. also, there is a factory documentary on the development of the himalayan, the engine's innards look Massive!
I am liking this thing more and more . one vid shows a guy trying tomuscle one around in the dirt/rock at very high altitude lol he can hardly stand up himself, but he picks one up.:) you are right, tho, black 400 is a lot off road, but not for an adv bike. even the small beemers are much more and this bike is built STRONG. |
ĹENGINE: NC250
MAXIMUM POWER: 24.8 hp MAXIMUM TORQUE: 16.6 ft. lbs PISTON SWEPT VOLUME: 250cc LENGTH/WIDTH/HEIGHT: 83.8" x 34.2" x 49.6". WHEELBASE: 55.1". FUEL CAPACITY: 4.2 Gallons. WEIGHT: 385 lbs. MAXIMUM LOAD: 330 lbs. MAXIMUM SPEED: 84 mph. COMPRESSION RATIO: 11.5:1 rx3 specs above So the advantage must lie in the torque produced from the 383cc (something) motor |
I keep seeing this on my Twitter feed, and I really like the look of it. . .

I'm a Royal Enfield owner for about 2 years now and I LOVE my bike.
I'd like a chance to ride the 400 sometime. |

Comparing apples to apples?
CSC RX-3------------------------------R.E. Himalaya
Weight. 385 lbs.-----------------401 lbs. H.P. 24.8.--------------------24.5 Torque. 16.6 ft.lbs.-------------24 ft.lbs. Lbs./H.P. 15.5--------------------16.3 So what do you want? More horsepower or more torque? :hmm: Are you looking for top speed or off-road ability? :yay: |
For an off road bike its ALL about torque.

I was informed by Royal Enfield that the bike will be on display at the Long Beach International Mototcycle Show next month. Hope to view and try it on for size!:clap: |
would love to be able to get these in a crate like the hawks can be bought. save a few bucks, assemble myself. Price will be key.
|
Oh, these are much too special. They have to be assembled, adjusted calibrated etc,etc by the most highly trained north American specialists....Add on a couple thousand.
|
Not ticking my box. Awesome bike but I know they are going to go crazy on the price because of the r.e. prominence. Hawks, Storms and tt's will already climb telephone poles, will these 400cc r.e. do traffic at 24 hp? We ll see

16 lbs. makes that much difference in performance?
[QUOTE=1cylinderwonder;226932
CSC RX-3------------------R.E. Himalayan Weight. 385 lbs.-----------------401 lbs. H.P. 24.8.--------------------24.5 Torque. 16.6 ft.lbs.-------------24 ft.lbs. Lbs./H.P. 15.5--------------------16.3 [/QUOTE] 16 lbs. of extra weight, but 7 ft.lbs. more torque!:clap: |
