i had a faulty ground out of the box... it was a small wire, bad ground contact on the motor and a sharty stock battery.... maybe its a common issue with china bikes....? i used some "starwashers" and sprayed it with ncp2

glad you got it fixed though....👍👍

Yeah I noticed it was faulty and weak looking when I was assembling my apollo but I just figured I'd tighten it and keep it moving. Then a guy on youtube said his apollo would sputter and lose power around 40ish also it would not start sometimes then he noticed his coil was loose and where I was grounded was not very clean. Now as I think of it, that could have been the cause of why I would lose power around 45ish. I'll use ncp2 if I have any issues again!

Where is this coil ground located on the apollo? Id like to be proactive and check it. Ive traced a few wires but would appreciate a confirmation on finding it.

Like most of these china bikes the coil is grounded directly to the frame. Remove the coil and clean a little paint off so that it has a good ground.

Under the right side fairing up beside the gas tank. You'll see it mounted. I'd take it off, and sand down the ground point then make sure its nice and tight.

Is it the small black component that is 'behind' the horn bracket? (It does lead to the spark plug cap). It has two wires coming off the back - those two wires lead into the wiring harness and seem to go to the back of the bike/battery negative).

I not finding a location that seems to be an obvious ground outside of a very thin wire that is on the chain side of the bike looped through one of the bolts that holds the cover guard on.

Yes, that's the coil, and the ground is generally where it bolts to the motorcycle. It needs to be paint and rust free at where the coil is bolted to the frame.

Appreciate the confirmation!

Thank you all! :thanks:
