they also make strap wrenchs that will wrap around the magneto and allow you to hold it much more firmly.

harbor-freight has similar tools to these tools pictured for much cheaper but much lesser quality then the pics but will still work.

Electric impact.
Its advised you use impact sockets with an impact wrench because the regular sockets are thin and tend to break/shatter.

Strap wrench

The next thing you will most likely need after removing that bolt is the puller and you will also want to torque it back down to the right specs on reassembly.

OK all that out of the way I still wonder why you pulled the magneto cover (left side cover) to get to the clutch.
I kinda thought the clutch was on the right side.

I originally thought I was having a starter gear problem and I worked my way to the clutch gear.

This sounds like a hefty/expensive task.

This is the point you get a case of beer and call your good buddy in the greasy blue collar trades.
Tools are expensive ,but they eventually pay for themselves.
If you were closer I would lend you mine (prolly bring over impact ,swill a couple and remove that sucker!

Cheap guys way would be to strike your swing handle or wrench with a hammer to break that bugger. Tremendous force in a short controllable manner....

Sorry for no misunderstanding but I took for granted that everyone is mechanical, has tools and a place to use them...

Ohh ok I see.

You could pick up most every tool you need (except a magneto puller) at harborfreight (or as we call it "chinafreight") for about $100.
That would be a 1/2" electric impact, 1/2" drive metric impact sockets, a strap wrench and a 1/2" drive torque wrench.

Although I doubt I'd buy a torque wrench from harborfreight I'd probably go to sears for that.

To be honest before I'd tear into the engine to go at the clutch I'd drop the engine oil and put in some good quality oil and run it to see if that helps I'd also try adjusting the clutch cable and lubing the clutch cable.

And actually I did have a slight slippage problem but decided to go with some dedicated 4 stroke motorcycle engine oil and that took care of it to my happy surprize.
I didnt ride mine to much when it was slipping before I changed the oil either though.

Well I had just changed the oil with some 4-stroke 10w-40 oil when this problem happened. However, I have noticed that, since opening the assembly (and letting it sit overnight) and a bunch of this oil has run out, the gear has stopped slipping and regained its tension a good bit (or at least enough for the torque my hand provides). Do you really think it's just as simple as the oil?

If so, what weight should I try?

Oh yeah, does anyone know where I can find the little bracket-cap that goes over the swingarm? It's missing on the right fork and I feel like my bike is going to wobble without it.

There's also this pipe I am looking at:

The baffles in my stock pipe are all screwed up and they make a ruckus when I'm riding.
