The chinese version seems more honest (42L). |
I must admit, until recently I haven't owned more than one helmet. ;) I can barely fit my Fly Trekker helmet into the large travel trunk because of the sun visor.
http://i1202.photobucket.com/albums/...r/8b1805a3.jpg Even though it also has a sun visor, I can more easily fit my GMax GM27 helmet into the large travel trunk, because it is a 3/4-face helmet. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...fL._SY450_.jpg A standard, 3/4-face helmet fits very easily into the large travel trunk. I think it's possible the large, Garage Pro Travel Trunk might hold two, 3/4-face helmets. :) |

Hey Spud (and anyone else who happens to have a JC Whitney case and an RX3) - I noted Huck had to drill the mounting plate to match the holes on the RX3 plate - I'm guessing this means there are no other configurations to make it work without having to get out a drill? (I have a drill, but it is very rarely used :P and I'm pretty sure the bits are for wood and not metal *sigh*)
|
If it were me, I'd sooner drill the JC Whitney plate than the RX3 rack. A set of high speed steel drill bits can be had for cheap at Harbor Freight.
Do you have anybody who could assist you? Sometimes it's much easier with a second set of eyes, and an extra pair of hands. The good news is that even if things didn't go well for you, a new rack on Taobao isn't terribly expensive. |

I would definitely be aiming to drill the JC Whitney plate and not the RX3 rack. I just with I had access to a shop - a nice drill press would make quick work of this rather than my messing about with a hand drill that hardly ever gets used. Good thing I still have the pallet from the bike so I have something to brace on ;) |
Thanks for reminding me; I am going to install my J.C. Whitney (JCW) mounting plate today. :) If you drill the JCW mounting plate to match the mounting holes for the stock trunk, you can use the same bolts, and quickly remove the JCW mounting plate, and switch to the stock trunk whenever you like.

Spud, after you drill the required holes, perhaps you could make a paper template. You could then scan the template and make it available to CR members.
