Does the donor bikes CDI look identical to yours? Is that the plug with the different pin out?

TheGammaGhost 08-20-2012 05:24 PM

Yes the CDI looks basically identical, the same amount of cords.

No the difference is the female part that the engine connects to, only had one metal prong, where as the donor bikes has i think 6.

the cord is Not the ground, and not the bigger connector, its that smaller green one.

TheGammaGhost 08-20-2012 05:25 PM

Man............ this sucks, i dont know what to do :x :x :x :x :x

TheGammaGhost 08-20-2012 05:36 PM

the cord that has the different pin count leads too the magneto, dont know if that helps...

I hope this isnt how this ends for me... man....

FastDoc 08-20-2012 05:41 PM

I forget which color wire it is but someone here may have posted the wiring diagram. You may be able to see the color coming out of the switch and/or the harness. You may also want to try switching CDI's and make sure the coil wires are attached/grounded as need be.

Look at your pics of the donor-cycles wiring to confirm.

TheGammaGhost 08-20-2012 05:53 PM

MAN!!!!!!!!

im so confused, as to what to do. or what it could be. The cdi is shaped a little bit different, but its the same cord count.

this makes me so mad.

FastDoc 08-20-2012 05:57 PM

IIRC there are 2 CDI styles. One with rounded plug and 6 wires the other a square plug and 6 wires. It may matter.

TheGammaGhost 08-20-2012 06:01 PM

yeah he has the rounded like plugs, I have the other kind.

i'd have to remove the plug head and swich em, to make it fit, the bottom one with 2 wires. i have no idea if thats right/okay though... :(

FastDoc 08-20-2012 06:09 PM

Don't do that yet, but this might be the problem. I kinda wish you checked the transplant engine before removing it... Oh well live and learn.

Wait for Weld or Kato or someone with more Hondoid experiance than myself to check in. This should not be a big deal.

TheGammaGhost 08-20-2012 06:10 PM

Alright, Ill be patient, Im hopefull we can fix this.

really thought i'd be riding today though, oh well.

You can definitely fix this, it's just that your wiring isn't jiving... You might have to use the CDI unit from the donor bike. As Doc was saying though, probably be wisest to wait for Weld or Kato's opinion on the best course of action. Patience... Don't panic ;)

TheGammaGhost 08-20-2012 06:40 PM

Forsure, :) It's a wiring thing, you guys rule.

Feeling much better about it now.

I'll do what it takes, and i'm okay with waiting.

FastDoc 08-20-2012 06:45 PM

Of course we are the same useless schmucks that couldn't fix your clutch...

I STILL don't know what that one was all about but I can't help but believe if you were my neighbor I could ride over there and see, hear, and feel my way through this and fix you right up. The same applies to a bunch of us. :P

FastDoc 08-20-2012 06:46 PM

Another diagram to look out:

Now I gotta go see this guy with a stroke...
