But at 100 she squeals like a slaughterhouse pig and trembles like a drunk in detox!
i m not surprised, my honda does the same :-) if you geared her higher, you won t have acceleration, if you gear her too low she ll scream sooner. but there is the gearing at which the motor works best and delivers the most power. one tooth less or more on the front can make a difference for cruising and shifting. annoying having to shift all the time around 60 km/h, the standard speed limit on major urban roads in australia. the stock gearing on the suzuki dr 400 is a good example for that. not sure whether our motor is similar to the CRF 230, but it should be close enough:

i prefer a lower gearing on those small bikes and get up to 80 really quickly and then leave it at that.

help from Italy

make sure you don't have any defective cables and/or contacts along the eletrical circuit, also check the side stand safety contact
another frequent problem is that related to use of choke lever which has on mid and off positions inverted in comparison to usual ones
hope i made it clear, am passing tips from italian forums hoping to help (gonna get my preowned v-raptor in a couple of days)

I can get 60 mph or 100kmh out of my 125 raptor it does not like it,, though sits at 50 mph or 80 kmh but when you hit a hill it's got very little torque I understand the 250 is not much faster but has more torque! VV

my 250 Raptor reaches 105 km/h without stressing it. The most comfortable speed range is between 80-90 km/h.

Now you can find in gearingcommander the SKYTEAM V-RAPTOR 250.
I let add it to the database

engine shift

i have found on youtube a couple of vids of an aussie guy who took off the original engine from his v-raptor and installed a Zongshen 250 cc water cooled unit................amazing piece of job he did
the vids describe all very well, with particular regard to electrical connections (pretty tricky part of its work)
also included a vid of the running engine, its noise is wonderful and "full" compared to the previous OEM unit

i just chamged my exhaust terminal with a highway hawk black Megaton (or was it Megaphon ?) model
it is not for regular street use in Italy but I got it installed just the same, lowering its huge noise with a Dbkiller originally intended for use on VW Beetle engines
my "exhaust" mechanic had to work quite a bit with welding to adapt it but the result was nice in terms of looks and sound and performance
will add pics soon
the next thing i'd like to work on is the front suspension, suffering a lot (together with my poor ass and neck) on street holes and bumps, and the clutch (old story that all v-raptor owners know well)

Buckled from rim V-retro

Hi, I have a buckled front rim on my v-retro 250! I am based in Sydney Australia and was wondering if anyone knows where I can find a new rim?
Cheers
