Oengus-
Nice photos! My parents live down the road from Mohican State Park- a little South of Cleveland. My wife and I were actually up there last month to visit family. Hope the riding has been treating you well.My parents said the weather has been nice this past week! |
Hi Tim, thanks
The weather has been very good lately. I am familiar with Mohican, I have been cannoning there a few times. I still have the XP200 just turned 3600km on the odometer (only put on 1000 this season) still no problem with it. The Ladola (red bike) had some issues, they had trouble sourcing parts for it, all of the part had to come from either Europe or South America. I will try to post some more pictures soon… |
2011
Did an oil change…took a ride around and ended up putting 100km on the little bike.
I took some snap shots of various places I visited, it was a beautiful day. I resisted any urges to take photos of the 5 billion dollars of construction going on in the city. Seriously everything from casinos, bridges, office complexes, museums, conventions centers…blah blah blah. I will wait till they are all completed and then post some pictures. I made it to the Lake Front, there is some development there a project called Battery Park. Cleveland’s Lakefront is cut off by a set of commercial rail lines and a 50 mph expressway called the Shoreway. Battery Park is a development at what was once an Eveready Battery plant and now it is housing. They demolished factory and conducted remediation of the site, they did retain the old power plant and it now is a community center, I noticed it had Wine Bar. The area is called Detroit Shoreway it also has a Theater District, which they have been developing. I think the correct term for the area is transitional. Battery Park: They are renovating a tunnel that connects the residential neighborhood with the Lake Front Park (Edgewater Park), it is part done. http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...kefront015.jpg http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...kefront014.jpg http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...kefront013.jpg http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...kefront010.jpg http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...kefront008.jpg Here are some of the homes they built and also the Power Plant as well as an old store front that is restaurant and its patio. The large building is an adjacent building, I think it would make great lofts. http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...kefront023.jpg http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...kefront016.jpg http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...kefront017.jpg http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...kefront019.jpg http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...kefront020.jpg http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...kefront006.jpg http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...kefront022.jpg http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...kefront024.jpg Here are is a shot of the XP behind the Power Plant next to the railroad tracks. Also the view of the lake from the end of the pedestrian tunnel. http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...kefront012.jpg http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...kefront001.jpg |
Here are some photos of the Power Plant and the surrounding views. A train passed by, the tracks are active trains pass by often.

Before I made it to the Lake Front I stopped in an area called Little Italy, this area is next to University Circle. The base of the Bluff leading up to the Heights, it is also called Murray Hill.

I also visited part of the Cleveland Metro Park, this area is called Big Creek Reservation its a tributary to the Cuyahoga, as it flows it passes through the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. It connect to the Cuyahoga River between a Steel Mill and a Aluminum Forging facility. One of these days I will get into the industrial heart of the city and take some photos of that. They are working on recovering the creek in parts, it is actually very clean at this park. It cuts through a ravine shale cliffs and mature trees all around it. It has really nice trails that wind through it, very wooded.

Wow, thanks for the great pics! I especailly like the old power plant and the new housing around it. In my area, they re-purposed an old mill and created office space, because the cell tower contracts on the roof prevented demolition of the structure. It's a much nicer area now.
I can clearly see why Drew Carey says that Cleveland rocks! 8) |
Thanks for posting the great photos, Oengus! I'm glad to see new construction is occurring in Cleveland. :)

But also demonstrate some popularity with others. People are linking to the images on other sites, it compounds views when that happens. |
I always begin with a cup of coffee, bike at Starbucks
http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...TOWN/UC016.jpg Today's tour, 3900 km on the XP...still no issues, I just change the oil and filter every 1000km. Locations I visited.... Future home of MOCA (museum of contemporary art) http://www.mocacleveland.org/buildingdesign.php http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...TOWN/UC002.jpg http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...TOWN/UC003.jpg This is the Museum of Contemporary Art, it at the intersection of Euclid Ave. and Mayfield Road. http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...TOWN/UC025.jpg The area is University Circle, the project or development is named Uptown. They call it Uptown as it is the end of the Euclid corridor, the other end is Downtown and there also is a Midpoint and it is referred to as Midtown. These are some shots of that section of Euclid Ave, what is built and what is being built. http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...TOWN/UC026.jpg The South side of the street, Moca is on one end and the Cleveland School of Contemporary Art on the other. The section being built will be ground level retail and upper level residential. http://www.uptowncleveland.com/ http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...TOWN/UC004.jpg Same looking East http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...TOWN/UC005.jpg South side looking West. http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...TOWN/UC022.jpg North side, the structure wraps onto East 115th South side of Euclid, MOCA on the corner. http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...TOWN/UC027.jpg http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...TOWN/UC028.jpg End of Uptown, South side, School of Contemporary Art. http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...TOWN/UC029.jpg http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...TOWN/UC024.jpg. http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...TOWN/UC022.jpg Below is at E118th and Euclid, it would be the North side of Euclid. The guy that bought the Moto Guzzi called me, he asked if I would come over and help him put his plates on his bike. He bought some 1959 plates for the bike and they are actually red and white. I thought it be a good chance to take it for a ride. But when I got on it the clutch was not engaging…he had surgery on his knee and only got to ride it once, I still have not gotten to ride it or even go ridding with him.
It is a cool looking bike but way to small for me, and it seems really uncomfortable to ride. I personally think the bike belongs in museum. http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...Picture010.jpg http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...Picture009.jpg http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...Picture011.jpg |
That is a beautiful machine. When you say the clutch won't engage, does that mean that the bike won't move forward?
