Haosen (Hawks etc.): Ask me anything

I work for RPS, the sole US importer/distributor. So if you have questions ask me, and I'll try to figure out the answer. The engineers speak Chinese, so sometimes it's not that easy.

Why such a delay in the mco or what ever you call the papers you need to get a bike registered and plated?

3 times in the last 8 years I was in the market for chinese scooter/motorcycle. The deal breaker was the papers.

Twice I bought used jap over brand new chinese because the paperwork was not with the machine. The first time I bought a new chinese scooter which I was very happy with but .........the papers took two weeks to arrive after the scooter came. I have bought new jap bikes in the past I rode them home and they were plated same day or the next day after purchase. john

In some parts of the US, the Hawk is street legal, and other parts say no. It's not so much a problem on the Chinese end as it its a problem with the US bureaucracy. Japan has had more time in the market so they are ahead in that regard.

Adjuster 10-06-2015 08:31 PM

I don't see pricing on your website. Do you only deal with distributors or do you sell retail also?

are these the old Hensim bikes?

Depends who you buy from. I had mine before i even had the bikes together. APSCUSA was FAST!

Adjuster 10-07-2015 10:56 AM

Power Ride Outlet also sent me the paperwork very quickly. It was everything I needed to register in Florida no questions asked.

Maybe some sellers ship the bike with the paperwork, but others don't because of the chance of someone stealing the bike still in the crate with all the paperwork to get it licensed??

Adam, thanks for joining here and making your self available for us to contact you with questions. Just got a very nice quote to buy a new Hawk and have it shipped to Hawaii to my door, on the big island.

Gotta go right now, but I'll be back with some questions for you later....

The website is no good. IT is working on the bandwidth issue and then we will fix it.

Yes, and no. The designs are basically the same but engineers have reworked various features. As an example, one of the bikes required you to use a right-handed clutch, but now you can use your left hand and have a gun in the other hand. :ohno:

Its a local issue, Florida is good about this, California not so good.

jjn 10-07-2015 08:34 PM

Okay. Just got home. Here's a few questions:

1. I've heard the Hawks come with floatbowls that have screws not made to be removed. Yet, I also think I heard they have a grooved jet needle? Why would they do that? Seems like quite a few buyers have had to either get those screws drilled out so they can rejet, as their bikes were running way to lean, or order a Mikuni carb clone from ebay and replace that stock carb. I hear the stock unit is a Kehin clone, and some owners say it works well, once jetted properly.

2.Do you know if anyone from my state, Hawaii, has ordered these and got them licensed in that state?

3. Where can we buy parts such as, maybe, the body plastics, should we need them?

Thanks for your comments!!

That senerio is impossible. Not unless the shipper does not report the theft. If reported the serial/vin would easily convict any one attempting to plate the hot bike.

My questions

Adam, thank you for offering to field questions on the new Hawk 250. This is a great bike and I believe it will continue to grow in popularity.

A few questions I have for you (or anyone else who might know and wants to chime in) are:

1. What are the manufacturer recommended valve clearances for the Hawk?
(My best guess is that it will be about 0.05-0.06mm for the inlet valve and 0.07-0.08mm for the exhaust valve.)

2. Is there a good magnetic oil drain plug you recommend for the Hawk? If not, does anyone know who sells really strong magnetic oil drain plugs to start my search?

3. I believe a 17T front sprocket will fit the Hawk. Will an 18T front sprocket fit as well, or would this hit the guard?

4. I'm assuming the engine is a Honda CG250 clone (correct?). If not, what engine is it based off of so I can find the closest/most relevant repair manual for the Hawk?

Thanks in advance!

Apparently. I've been scouring the internet and haven't found a single negative comment. My understanding is that it was originally designed for rugged terrain in Africa/South America.

With regard to the technical questions, I'm keeping track of them. Expect some delay in response, there is a considerable linguistic barrier. I barely speak Chinese, and they barely speak English.

Meanwhile, here is a pile of 500 Hawks.

I am not sure about Hawaii. A local dealer may be able to answer that. We rarely speak directly to end-users, which is the reason I am here. According to my computer, we don't yet have a franchise in Hawaii, although we are currently expanding there. Every state is different, so there is a lot of paperwork still being processed.

You can order parts out of Dallas, call: 972-484-9988.
Within a few months, there should be a website set up for that.

Sicario 10-08-2015 06:52 PM

I would like to say thanks to Adam for all the info he's contributed. I'm currently awaiting a call back from RPS pertaining to an order for a whole new set of plastics. I initially ordered my Hawk 250 in black but received it in Red. Still looked sweet but I still preferred it in black. They said they're gonna call me back for pricing. I can't wait to switch out the plastics and may possibly do some mixing and matching. I'll definitely post pics of the finished product. Not gonna lie guys, I'm pretty excited for this. And Adam thanks again for your help bro!

jaymalmat 10-08-2015 07:15 PM

Hey. I also wrote a message to RPS inquiring about availability and pricing for the set of plastics. They have yet to message back. I also have a red Hawk bc the black was not available at the time and I didn't want to wait. If I happen to hear a reply before you I will be sure to post it so you know. RPS is actually not that far from me. I'm in the outskirts of Dallas in Garland , Tx so I could just go pick them up.

Sicario 10-09-2015 11:43 AM

So I just placed the order for a new set of plastics. The set cost me $153+shipping. Definitely well worth it. I was told the parts would arrive on Tuesday via UPS. I suggest you give a call to the number Adam provided.

ripcuda 10-09-2015 12:41 PM

Another more affordable option for some wishing a color change might be Plasti-dip in a spray can. Make your existing plastics any color you want. Not only will it help protect them... but can be peeled off later to return to original. Can apply right over the stock stickers too w/o issues.

Cheers!

Weldangrind 10-09-2015 01:48 PM

Krylon Fusion is another good choice for changing colours on plastic. That said, it doesn't last long on fenders.

Adam Rinkleff 10-09-2015 05:16 PM

Next year we are planning to introduce a Russian military bike, I'm kind of excited about it. Extremely lightweight and comes apart so you can put it in your trunk.

Looks pretty neat .

Looks like a Rokon...........

culcune 10-09-2015 10:12 PM

I am sure this has been answered on other Hawk threads, but while this one is 'hot' what is the stock gearing front and rear on the Hawk?

You may have already seen the 'Hawaii shipments' deal, but this still doesn't really answer your question. Perhaps, contact ASPCUSA and see if they have shipped any to Hawaii, and if so, did the customer register theirs for the street (provided the customer shared the info with ASPCUSA)?

To answer your question culcune I bought mine about a month ago and it came stock with a 15t front and 50t rear.

Sounds awful! But nothing a 44 and a 17 couldn't fix, LOL

mjstef 10-10-2015 01:00 PM

These bikes REALLY need another gear. I would LOVE a little more road speed but i would severely sacrifice the off road capabilities here in the mountains. As it is i am thinking about keeping a spare set of clutch discs around. Low gear is REALLY not low enough for crawling......

jaymalmat 10-10-2015 01:08 PM

Yes it was. I currently have a 17t front with stock rear. I have a 45t rear but yet to put it on. When I do, does anybody know if I will have to break chain and remove any links?

jjn 10-10-2015 02:14 PM

Here is a very reasonable quote I got from ASPCUSA:

Dear Jon,
"The shipping cost to your residence in Keaau, HI. is $298.00, carrier is
YRC Freight. YRC conducts all our out bound Ocean Freight with a ETA time of
10 to 14 days. The complete delivered cost for the Haosen 250 Enduro
Motorcycle is $1499.00. We have this model in Red, Green and Blue colors. An
ad has been placed on our web site, www.apscusa.com / motorcycles "Hawaii
Shipment Haosen 250 Enduro" Thank You for your interest in our products and
feel free to call or e-mail with any questions you have."

CSC wants about $700. Some other sellers want close to $500, and up to $550.

Weldangrind 10-10-2015 03:39 PM

That seems fair.

Bruce's 10-10-2015 04:24 PM

Cool , now you can start riding instead of shopping .

mjstef 10-10-2015 08:36 PM

As I have said before, nothing but great results working with these folks! I highly recommend them over any of the other companies I spoke with on the phone.

jjn 10-10-2015 09:32 PM

They seem very thorough, and actually want my business. That's unlike most sellers.

Does the $700 quote from CSC include the $195 they charge for assembly?
