Bashan Forks/Parts Vendors?
I am interested in purchasing a pair of the new USD forks employed by the Bashan Brozz, Bashan Storm, et cetera. Does anyone know a domestic vendor who sells these Bashan forks? The Bashan USD forks are very similar to the ones shown in the photograph below.
http://i442.photobucket.com/albums/q...tification.jpg Here are the dimensions of these 37mm, USD Chinese forks. Diameter of inner fork tube: 37mm Diameter of fork at upper triple clamp: 48mm Diameter of fork at lower triple clamp: 51mm Overall length from tops of fork caps to bottom of fork tube: 33.5 inches Axle diameter: 12mm I can purchase a pair of these forks from Taobao for $50/pair, but the shipping cost would probably be over $100. Therefore, I would like to know if anyone sells these forks domestically. ;) |
Call Kandi USA since they used to distribute the Brozz and Shark (no USD forks for the Shark). Usually distributors are allotted spare parts, but not sure if that would include forks. Maybe they have a parts bike they tore/tear into? I do know that Excalibur has a complete new in box TMEC 200 bike minus the wheels, but not sure if that will fit and not sure if Alan or Wade will part that bike out any more than the wheels.

Duh--I have a parts TMEC 200 which I already sold the wheels off of. It has USD forks.

Do your TMEC 200 forks match the description I posted earlier in this thread? |
Let me measure them when I get home...

they seem to have some forks here ... http://parts.powersportsbest.com/ind...-sets.html?p=1

I contacted them by telephone. They have the forks I need at a very reasonable price, and their ups shipping cost is also very reasonable. :thanks: I might buy someone's used forks. However, if I decide to purchase new forks, I'm always looking for the best deal. ;) Does anyone else know another parts vendor who sells Chinese USD forks? |
Spud, Are these usd forks for the zong sierra with all those miles?

http://i442.photobucket.com/albums/q...inishedJob.jpg The new forks are a different design from my original ZS200GY-2 forks. The new forks will accomodate the newer, better, front brake caliper which comes with the newer Chinese, dual sport bikes. I can buy a new, "hocky puck" brake caliper from Taobao for about $10, plus shipping. But I am seriously considering the switch to new forks, and the newer brake caliper, shown below. ;) https://gd1.alicdn.com/imgextra/i1/7...!708561671.jpg https://gd3.alicdn.com/imgextra/i3/1...1801555622.jpg |
Spud, will the existing disk work with the dual piston caliper? I had the hockey puck on my X-Moto and it had a much wider (deeper?) wear band than my dual piston calipers. The disk was larger diameter, as well.

My ZS200GY-2 front wheel appears to be identical to the CSC TT250 front wheel. Also, the speedometer sending unit appears to be identical. My front brake rotor is 265 mm in diameter. I read the TT250 brake rotor is the same diameter. Perhaps you can verify this measurement for me. Both brake rotors employ 6 bolts. The forks of the CSC TT250 appear to be identical to the standard, Chinese USD forks. Here are some photographs and measurements of the Chinese forks. Perhaps you can verify for me the forks are the same. https://img.alicdn.com/imgextra/i2/1...!183847414.jpg https://img.alicdn.com/imgextra/i2/1...!183847414.jpg https://img.alicdn.com/imgextra/i2/1...!183847414.jpg https://img.alicdn.com/imgextra/i2/1...!183847414.jpg https://img.alicdn.com/imgextra/i3/1...!183847414.jpg https://img.alicdn.com/imgextra/i1/1...!183847414.jpg https://img.alicdn.com/imgextra/i3/1...!183847414.jpg https://img.alicdn.com/imgextra/i1/1...!183847414.jpg http://parts.powersportsbest.com/med...04_copy_73.jpg http://parts.powersportsbest.com/med...05_copy_73.jpg http://parts.powersportsbest.com/med...06_copy_68.jpg http://parts.powersportsbest.com/med...07_copy_49.jpg http://parts.powersportsbest.com/med...09_copy_26.jpg http://parts.powersportsbest.com/med...00010_1_15.jpg If the forks, wheel, speedometer sending unit, and brake rotor are the same, then I should be able to purchase a front brake caliper from CSC which will give perfect fitment. |
Here is a recap of the dimensions for the standard, 37mm, USD Chinese forks.
Diameter of inner fork tube: 37mm Diameter of fork at upper triple clamp: 48mm Diameter of fork at lower triple clamp: 51mm Overall length from tops of fork caps to bottom of fork tube: 33.5 inches Axle diameter: 12mm Distance between caliper mounting holes: 60 mm |

If the Bashan Storm/Brozz has a 265 mm, front brake rotor, a front brake caliper from the Bashan Storm/Brozz should also be a perfect fit, since these Bashan bikes also employ the Zong's front hub. ;) Can you verify the front brake caliper on the TT250 is the same as the photographs shown below? Thanks for all your help. https://gd1.alicdn.com/imgextra/i1/7...!708561671.jpg https://gd3.alicdn.com/imgextra/i3/1...1801555622.jpg |
i am sorry, i should have said before ... i have not used this vendor ... only thing i need from them they are out of
|
could you not just make a bracket and put new caliper on stock forks? ... maybe have one made at a shop for a bit less than cost of new forks ... but on the other hand, new parts are always good too

I replaced my Zong with a 2006 Yamaha XT225. I bought the bike for $1,800 dollars. It was in mint condition with only 1,004 miles on the odometer. I have transferred the shock spring, skid plate, hand guards, and 4.1-gallon fuel tank from the Zong to the XT225. I will post a thread on my Yamaha in the near future. :) http://i.imgur.com/TMH2hwU.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ZMpT1Wp.jpg |
That bike is pretty close to the old Honda XL185S. Congrats on the purchase of the lightweight wife bike and I mean that in a good way.

I wonder if these front forks could be used with the TT250 triple clamps for a budget fork upgrade on the Hawks? Buying the whole assembly from CSC would cost almost $800, because they want $300 a piece for the forks, but the entire triple clamp assembly is only $95, and if these forks would work, that could do the whole conversion for $255, and be, more or less, a bolt in conversion.
Yes, I know I could convert to some name brand bike forks, and it's tempting, but for a hassle free conversion that requires no real work, it's a step up from the toothpick forks the Hawk comes with. Anybody with a TT250 care to measure the forks at the triple clamps? If the match these then I may just pull the trigger on ordering some parts to do this. |

The XT225 has a larger engine than the XL185, and a beautiful, wide-ratio, 6-speed transmission. I can comfortably cruise at 50-60 mph for hours on the XT225. With a low saddle height and a dry weight of only 238 pounds, the XT225 handles nimbly on steep, rocky and loose terrain; it is a joy to ride. :) |

What is the fork travel for the Hawk? |
Quote:
Not too sure on the Hawk suspension travel. I have never seen any published figures from any vendor or even RPS. I would estimate around 8 inches, give or take. Maybe a bit longer. I could deal with a little loss in travel if these forks are shorter, same with height. I was considering making it into a more road oriented bike anyway. |

Spud, you've been busy.. great job, I Guess you can say old zongs never die, they just keep Rollin on.
With only 1000 miles you really found a gem! It's barely passed the break-in. |
