Just curious. Are Icebear Scooters any good?

Personally, not a fan of ice bear. Their stuff always *looks* nice, but is usually pretty sloppy. That being said, they do tend to have a somewhat solid following.
I recommend Wolf. If it was the vision line you were looking at, they have a similar model, the rugby. Their Jets and Jet IIs are solid, as well as the entry level rx50. The V-150s are also an awesome choice if you want something bigger than a 50. I did a 72cc kit on an RX-50 this week and it was pretty quick after a little carb/airflow work. |

My Ice Bear Vision 150 is still going strong. Ride her almost every day. On my second set of tires. Had to replace the tail light as the stop light burned out.
|
What size are you considering? They make 150cc, 300cc and some trikes. They make 150cc Grom Clones too.

I don't think that Ice Bear actually manufactures the ones they sell. The Ice Bear Vision 150 I own is like the ones that other sell with their brand on them. I don't think Wolf manufactures the bikes they sell. |

However, Wolf's scooters use ZNEN as the OEM from what I remember. ZNEN is the OEM for several brands, including BMS, SSR, Amigo, and others. From what I gather, ZNEN is pretty decent, and companies can spec the models to their liking, which is why some 'brands' (i.e. Amigo or Wolf) have a good rep. |

Only thing I know is that there are many different sellers of the clone of the Yamaha Zuma 125 which my Ice Bear Vision 150 is one of. All look pretty much the same except for the name.
google "yamaha zuma clone" and you get lots of hit for scooters similar to mine with different names. Some are a clone of the older Yamaha Zuma. The manufacturer of my scooter is https://www.zhenhuagm.com/products/m...oter/dwsv.html |
I am guessing that is the parent company of Ice Bear. I recognize a few of the products.

I believe they are the OEM for most, if not all, of Ice Bear's scooter lineup, then. Ice Bear seems to be the company that arranges to renew the EPA/DOT certification year after year. The way the certification reads on the EPA/DOT Excel spreadsheet, it appears that Ice Bear is the OEM (Pacific something or another is the company of record), but you are showing they are not. A comparison would be similar to CSC is the company of record for their Zongshen-sourced bikes on the EPA/DOT certificate, but is not the manufacturer as we know.

Any direction/recommendation on where to look at buying a Ice Bear 150 Vision? I've been looking here.
https://www.megamotormadness.com/pro...-150cc-scooter Following @Barnone elsewhere has got my interest in this make/model. I am open to other suggestions as well. Thanks. |
My Ice Bear 150 Trike is the nicest and highest quality out of all the 5 China bikes I've bought. But it's also the most expensive at $2,550.

I haven't been much impressed by the reviews of IceBear scooters. I've heard a LOT of "they look great, but aren't good in quality".
Guess I'll never know...too many other brands with better reps. |
Mine did come with a junk variator and a cheap belt, but you want to upgrade them anyway to get any real performance. And a weld did crack on the muffler, but it did come with a gel battery, quality oil in the crankcase, and an accurate digital speedometer. Also the CV carburetor needed no adjustment or tuning and the choke is automatic. And the disc brakes are outstanding. I'm very impressed with it.

I do like the look of the Maddog Gen 5...150cc, of course.

Just passed 7k km on my 2020 Ice Bear Vision. Ride it about every day with no issues, knock on wood.
Fixing to head to the Western North Carolina mountains for five months but will leave the Vision in Florida this year so I will have something to ride if I have to fly home for some reason. Will take my new Ural CT to ride there this year. |
Rear rack for the Ice Bear Vision 150 is available including a lot of the other Zuma clones probably made in the same factory.
Funny because a local dealer sells Wolf Brand and he says they are much better than Ice Bear. I suggested that neither brand builds their scooter that they sell and he went off on a rant. |

Couldn't stand not having a scooter here in the mountains of WNC so ordered a Ice Bear Malibu (PMZ150-10). Should have it in a crate in a week or two. It is very similar to my Ice Bear Vision I left in Florida. Now I need a rear rack but https://www.scooterdynasty.com/ is out of them.
|
Cool. Reminds me of the Adventure Scooters offered by Honda and Kymco.
|
My scooter is in Asheville and will soon arrive here in Robbinsville.

My Ice Bear Malibu 150 arrived today and I got it partially assembled. Might finish tomorrow. Unfortunately the rear rack is out of stock. Will put the highway pegs on it like I have on my Vision.

Received the COO and the bill of sale so I can now register and tag her. Insured her at Geico. According to the VIN she is a 2021 MEIDUO 150 My Ice Bear Vision is a 2020 HUZHOU 150 They just put the Ice Bear decals on them which I will probably remove. |
Vince, the Wolf brand looks like it comes stock with a rack. How does the price of your Ice Bear compare with Wolf? It looks I can get the Wolf locally for $1800 before sales tax.
|
Got mine here
https://www.megamotormadness.com/pro...-150cc-scooter About $1300 delivered in a crate to your house. The Malibu does not come with the rear rack which cost about $80 delivered but it is out of stock. Bet the scooters are made by the same company in China. Is the $1800 for the Rugby 50 cc version. I see the 150cc one for $2k Got the COO and bill of sale so am getting it tagged soon. |

Got the highway pegs off Ebay and they are installed. Really missed them as I was use to them on my Ice Bear Vision.

I have had good luck with my Ice Bear Vision 150 at 7k kms. No telling what my new Ice Bear Malibu 150 will do. I try to leave them stock. |

Been riding her with my fake Ebay tag while waiting for the real tag from Florida. I do have insurance on her and don't take her too far from home. She goes up my steep rough driveway just fine.

My de-restricted 50cc moped will run just as fast on the road as my TBR7 in all its 250cc glory. They also average $300-$500 cheaper than the same level 150cc scooter. When you add to that the absence of registration, plates, insurance, no required motorcycle endorsement (for some of us), and the 100+ MPG mileage you are dealing with basically free transportation. And I don't think there is a cop anywhere that is going to tear down your moped to measure the size of the piston to find out if you have a big bore kit installed. |
https://www.megamotormadness.com/ice-bear-scooters
Ice Bear Vision 50 cc $885.95 Ice Bear Vision 150 cc $939.59 Difference is $53.64 Shipping is the same. GY6 50cc 2.82 HP GY6 150cc 8.46 HP Hope you don't have a wreck where you are at fault with no insurance. Kentucky law says a 50cc moped cannot go faster than 30 MPH and can't have more than 2 HP. A guy at this tread https://advrider.com/f/threads/icebe...clone.1439424/ tried all kind of mods including 71cc kit on his Vision 50 cc and maybe got it up to maybe 40 MPH all because he didn't have a motorcycle endorsement or maybe no DL ala liquor scooter. He finally disappeared from the thread. Probably blew up the engine. |
I really can not tell you what the subject in the "other thread" was doing wrong. These bikes are all different otherwise we would not have guys claiming their box stock Hawk will do 90 when mine will not do but 60. Who knows?
Sorry Barnone but my 50cc bike was faster than 30mph when I brought it home. Imagine that, a manufacturer that would sell a vehicle that went faster then the defined speed limit. Never heard of such a travesty! Secondly, I have never seen a cop in KY driving around with a portable dyno to insure that mopeds have no more than 2hp. They just don't care! Third, I was referencing the law, which in KY requires no plates, registration or insurance. By your reasoning all bicycles, e-bikes and e-scooters should also be insured and tagged. At this point some cities are renting e-bike mopeds to anyone that has a cell phone that will pay for it. Exactly how much damage do you suppose a 200 pound plastic Chinese scooter would do in a collision? The most injury that would be possible is if you had a head on collision, went through the other vehicles windshield and landed on someone like a road killed deer. More than likely you would be dead and your level of social concern slightly reduced. As for the price differences you site, I can only state that that particular outlet is over charging for the 50cc and I would not purchase from them! |
On that site the two scooters are the same except for the engine size. You stated "They also average $300-$500 cheaper than the same level 150cc scooter." The difference in cost of a 50cc vs a 150cc
GY6 is very small. I was stating the law on mopeds in Kentucky. No where did I suggest that " By your reasoning all bicycles, e-bikes and e-scooters should also be insured and tagged." Your 50cc scooter does not qualify as a moped in Kentucky. What is the make and model of your 50cc scooter and where did you buy it? |
