Awesome! I love the swingarm and the trellis frame, but I'm most impressed by this pic.

We already discussed these briefly:

Unfortunately, FX bikes have been taking preorders for some years now, so I'm a bit skeptic if they'll ever see daylight. Hopefully, CCW will be faster :D

That's a very funny expression that I've not heard before. :hehe:

recracer 08-26-2014 11:33 AM

I have looked and looked . I could not find a Chinese source of theses bikes . seems Cleveland cycles works may be able to get there's out sooner. I have not seen pricing anywhere. I think I could use one

Weldangrind 08-26-2014 11:34 AM

I'm wondering if I could build one for the street. It would require that those skinny rims and tires have DOT approval, and the rest I could sort out.

I've been looking at the FXx and the Motoped (shown below with pegs not pedals). The Stromer ST2 eBike might be what I end up with. Just not sure yet, which way I will go.

The Stromer ST2 is rather pricey but it goes 150 kilometers on a charge.

Got the fever again, eh Sam? :D

SpudRider 08-27-2014 02:20 PM

Does anyone know where the Cleveland FXx is being manufactured? One of the links provided by Krasi lists an MSRP of 2,100 Euros, which equals $2,770 USD. I'd be tempted to get one at that price. :)

Meaning which country? If so, my lunch money says China. I'm sorry if that answer comes across as trite; I don't mean it to be.

SpudRider 08-28-2014 01:28 AM

I just wondered if Cleveland Cycle Works (CCW) was waiting on the Kiwis. ;)

Krasi_BG 08-28-2014 02:10 AM

For 2.1k Euro we all are jumping on one :D Hence I practically check CCW website daily. (Man, I lead a sad life apparently...)

Maybe one of you "locals" can give them a call to see what will they say about that bike?

If you did, would you attempt to DS it, in the great, free State of Idaho?

recracer 08-28-2014 01:06 PM

Good News (Hello. MSRP is $2200, semi-auto clutch, cheers.)(In the USA bikes will be in dealers within a month. Cheers)

mmprestine 08-28-2014 03:48 PM

I must laugh at that, was it CCW or the rep that told you that? Quite some time ago I inquired about a Hooligun X 450 and received the same exact answer. After some more research I have a hard time CCW will actually have any of these bikes here anytime soon, if ever. Looks like a marginal operation, just my take.

Oh and for the Motopeds I would stay clear of them also, well at least for the next 6 months or so. They may be vapor ware in the near future, again just my take.

I do understand what you are saying . I this case I am trying to stay on the positive side . This 110cc for off road use should not have nearly the EPA problems of a New to the USA 450cc on road machine . Theses 110cc Engines are here in the ,Who Knows how many in off road configs.

mmprestine 08-28-2014 04:14 PM

Perhaps I should put it another way. As soon as we see others selling the same thing then CCW will have it. All of their flagship bike are sold for lesser values and they just put their spin on it and mark it up. It doesn't seem that they have the true capacity to import a raw specially designed bike made for them. It is a whole different level and perhaps they will get there but I cannot imagine they have that type of capital. When I spoke with CCW they indicated they have been selling the bikes for years and referred me to the Rep. The Rep gave me the lo-down and basically said they have no clue what they are doing. Dont get me wrong, the designs are very attractive and to some extent give me the I want one or should I build one thought.

mmprestine 08-28-2014 04:18 PM

What I have come down to is it can be done in a different way a lot cheaper. I was thinking to get one of these 125cc pit bikes, (Apollo I believe) and strip it down to nothing and make it bare bones. It would at least make a good base for an extremely light system.

I bet I could get a license plate for one, but I don't think I would incur the trouble, and the expense. ;) These bikes are so light, I would merely transport them to the trail.

SpudRider 08-29-2014 12:02 AM

Thank you, Racer. :)

recracer 08-29-2014 12:08 AM

I'd like to plate one also . but I am not sure I could in West Virginia . Unless the MCO had FMVSS printed on it . I was thinking it was semi-auto ,because I have not seen anything bigger than a 110cc that wasn't full clutched . Trail bike rekluse

SamM 08-30-2014 04:00 AM

We can plate just about anything in WV. Just saying!

mmprestine 08-31-2014 09:34 AM

Well perhaps I was wrong. If they do make this happen I am sure they will have much success with them if the pricing is right. Sure looks like a fun toy. I wonder what the wheel base is? To bad the frame isn't alloy.

Another view . Appears both front and rear hand brakes .

SpudRider 08-31-2014 12:10 PM

Thanks for posting the new photos, Racer. :) I don't see a rear brake pedal, but surely this bike needs a clutch lever, doesn't it?

semi-auto 4 speed no clutch . Cleveland FXx is the only one I have seen with the semi-auto 110cc . The others are 125cc . I always think I want a clutch , But then wonder why so many trail riders want a rekluse auto clutch.

Weldangrind 08-31-2014 02:01 PM

I prefer a clutch, because I can match revs when downshifting. A semi-automatic doesn't allow that; you simply bang gears down.

recracer 08-31-2014 04:41 PM

I just read FX bike will be available both manual clutch or semi auto .

Weldangrind 08-31-2014 06:09 PM

A Rekluse and two hand brakes is ideal when fording creeks, but that's not my riding style. I'm happy with conventional controls.

I'm fascinated by the swingarm design of the FX bike. They took advantage of the short motor by shoving it up high, and then arranged the swingarm for maximum ground clearance. It looks like the seat height would suit a six footer, and the frame would clear big logs. Very cool.

SpudRider 09-01-2014 01:27 AM

When I'm riding single track or technical dual track, I am constantly working the clutch under throttle, and while coasting/braking. I don't think I would like a semi-automatic clutch.
