New Parts

Well i just installed new performance CDI and new Mikuni 30mm carb runs much better now..pulls wheelies no problem just need some pointers on fine tuning carb it seems to wanna stall out unless i give it gas

waynev 12-27-2010 08:47 PM

Are you saying it doesn't idle very good? Does it get better if you add choke?, could be the idle is a bit lean, try turning your A/F screw out a 1/4 turn or so, if your more than 2 turns out then a bigger pilot jet is needed.

For reference, the 30mm carbs i've seen come with a 20 pilot and 100 main jet installed, most of the people with 200cc beasts on here have gone to a 110 main and 25 pilot with good results.

bi0phreak420 12-27-2010 10:22 PM

yeah i didnt get much time to tinker with it before dark just ook it down the street and back im gonna mess around with it tomorrow

bi0phreak420 12-27-2010 10:28 PM

now i need some good performance shocks all the way around it and i will be good does any one know where i can get some other than giobikes.com

bi0phreak420 12-28-2010 04:23 PM

OK i am having problems getting bike to idle now. It will idle for about 30 seconds then it just gets so low it stalls out i have adjusted the air/ fuel mix it doesnt seem to help any. The only thing i havent done is adjust the needle.....PLEASE HELP...LOL!!!!!!!!

Adjusting the clip on the needle jet will help your midrange, idle is controlled by the a/f screw and your pilot jet, what happens if at 25 seconds in you give it a hit of choke, will it keep running?, if so then your too lean, open the a/f screw more, remember if your more than 2 turns out you need a bigger pilot jet, as mentioned before your carb should have came with a 20 pilot in it, most of us are having better luck with a 25 pilot jet.

bi0phreak420 12-28-2010 07:57 PM

just so im right the a/f screw is on the bottom of the car correct???

Yep, should be on the bottom of the carb close to the intake manifold, turning out is richer, turning in is leaner.

bi0phreak420 12-29-2010 02:04 PM

ok im taking new carb back off to look at it a little better I will be posting pics here in about an hour

bi0phreak420 12-29-2010 05:04 PM

and also how do i tell which length of pilot jet and main to buy??

They are all the same length, they are measure by the hole that is in them, so the 100 main you have will have a 1.00 mm hole in it a 110 main would have a hole that is 1.10mm.
Jets are cheap, but as mentioned before your new carb should have came with a 100 main and 20 pilot and i have suggested what other members are using which is the 110 main and 25 pilot, most of us have done all the upgrades though, cdi, mikuni carb, UNI air filter and some exhaust work.

Does your carb say mikuni on it?.

bi0phreak420 12-29-2010 05:26 PM

new carb on the right

bi0phreak420 12-29-2010 08:46 PM

I really need help... im not sure what type of jet to buy .I know i want a 110 main jet and 25 pilot . Would my best bet be to take the whole carb to the parts store and have them match them...i just tell them what size i want Right??

bi0phreak420 12-29-2010 08:48 PM

I have got the idling part fixed but when i give it full throttle it cuts out is that the jets or is that because i installed new CDI? It kinda sounds like its hittin a rev limiter

waynev 12-30-2010 06:07 AM

Need a pic of the other side of your carb, does it say mikuni on the top side of it?, if so then you have the same type of carb as the rest of us from GIO, and these would be the jets you would need

Main jet - 110 in a type N100.604 Large Round http://www.sudco.com/mikuni_mj2.html#n100604

Pilot Jet - 25 in a type VM28/486 http://www.sudco.com/mikuni_pj.html#vm28486

Those links will provide you with actual Mikuni part numbers, your local motorcycle dealer might also be able to get them from other sources too.

bi0phreak420 12-30-2010 04:52 PM

Here this should help it does say Mikuni

waynev 12-30-2010 06:06 PM

Yes it does..... so the jet types that i included in the post above will apply to your carb, just unscrew the main and pilot and compare them to the ones in the links i provided to be sure, they should be the same, if so you can use the type i listed and your local motorcycle dealer should be able to source them for you.

bi0phreak420 12-30-2010 06:36 PM

ok thanks man i appreciate the help

bi0phreak420 12-30-2010 09:24 PM

heres the jets that came out of carb

Yep those look the same as mine, not sure if you have vernier calipers or not but for reference the main jet at the head is .312" dia and is .16" thick the overall length is .55" long, yours should be marked with a "100" on it i'm guessing.
The pilot is 1.097" long, .194" dia. at the bottom, the threaded part measures .151" dia ( biggest part of the thread) and the top part is .075" dia., yours should have a "20" marked on it.

You should be good to go with the types i posted in that earlier thread.

Does that camera have a MACRO setting ? if so turn it on and your pictures will be so much better.
If its a cell phone or some other gadget then thats pretty good.

bi0phreak420 12-30-2010 10:00 PM

OK, well if you plan on using a good air filter, ie. a UNI or K&N, which you should, that will add a few jet sizes from the 100, so a 105 would do, if you plan on doing some exhaust work in the near future then you might as well get the 110 as the rest of us have, the 25 pilot will help as well, especially in the colder weather when being a bit rich on the idle side makes starting much easier in the cold.

Also. do you still have the china spark plug in it?, i would replace that with a NGK, not sure if your liquid is the same as our air cooled 200cc models but i've been using the NGK DR8ES-L in mine.

bi0phreak420 12-30-2010 10:25 PM

http://i1140.photobucket.com/albums/...e/PICT0548.jpg

bi0phreak420 12-30-2010 10:54 PM

yes i have changed the spark plug to NGK and about the air filter the one that came off of it has a black hose that goes into the air filter as shown above i need to know what this hose is for and if i need to keep a filter on it and what type

bi0phreak420 12-31-2010 07:39 PM

Anyone???

Jim 01-01-2011 11:50 AM

I'm pretty sure it's just a breather tube... Some one else will surely chime in eventually though, patience is a virtue ;) People are probably enjoying the holiday, happy new year.

bi0phreak420 01-01-2011 12:53 PM

yeah your prolly right im just gonna put the jets i have back in the carb and go riding im bored ill just deal with the sputtering for now

corymac 01-01-2011 08:00 PM

Jim is absolutely correct.

the black hose is a crankcase breather

corymac 01-01-2011 08:08 PM

where did you buy your carb, and cdi and if you dont mind, how much did you pay ?

I am looking for a monster pipe for my beast. I want the pipe before i got jetting and modifying fuel, air mixture.

Anyone have any ideas where one can be found ???

I know they are discontinued and hard to find, but they are in my opinion the only pipe worth upgrading too.

Jim 01-01-2011 08:27 PM

Cory, I believe he ordered them from this site,
http://www.motopartsmax.com But it may just be the cdi he ordered there?

I got my carb off the gio auctions, it took some paitence but I got it for $13 (plus auction fee / shipping). Though it hasn't arrived yet.

I'm not sure about pipe but I bet someone has an idea on it.

corymac 01-01-2011 08:36 PM

excellent Jim, thanks for the reply. I just found this site today and I plan to get my use out of it. I also intend to help as many people as I can.

I appreciate the input,

cheers and HNY11

Jim 01-01-2011 08:43 PM

Happy new year to you too, and welcome to the forums.

bi0phreak420 01-01-2011 10:06 PM

I paid 99.50 for both CDI and carb shipping was free

and about the breather hose should i put a filter on it

Jim 01-01-2011 10:12 PM

I've seen them with and without, but it couldn't hurt to have a filter...
