   |
What type of spacers did you use and could you please provide us with the exact part details.
|

will keep you all posted |
Great job What is the actual seat height now?

I look forward to seeing the rest of the details. |
OH! Too cool! Nice work! Lots of pics and document everything please! This is the kind of stuff that makes history search so valuable!
|
That looks pretty cool. A supermoto front fender will really complete the look.
|
Nice job.

I really like it can you post spacer specs and such
|
When i did my converaion with the 86 ninja wheels on my roketa, the rear used the stock spacers and the front i used the speedo hub in its normal spot and just stacked 1/2 washers til the forks didnt bind and the brakes didn't rub... Its really not a hard conversion... I made it harder by using the 86 rims that used a larger rear brake rotor though...LOL had to cut down a 1/4" off of it to fit my rear caliper...

I have a bashan enforcer . What would be the ideal supermoto conversion for this bike ?
|
I see this thread has died a while ago but just picked up some ninja 250 wheels and ready to get this going. I will try to document everything and put pictures up so others can know how to do this. Hopefully it will be a success!

some day when i have spare time i will try and rehost my threads pics...LOL |
would be better to upload to this site so they dont disappear like that

Ok so the back wheels fits really well, but you will have to change the front sprocket for 520 chain. The sprocket is a JT sprocket, jtf.328. The spacer that came with the wheel lines up with the sprockets
The main problem is the brake bracket, the rotor bolts will hit it, so you will need to get the ninja 250 rear brake bracket and rear brake, I'm waiting on that to come in but I'm 99% sure it'll work. I took the rear brake off and drove it around and everything else seems good, but you will need a smaller rear sprocket. As for the front it's gonna take a bit more work, only did an initial fit up so don't have much info on the front |
Interesting... i didnt have issues with the rotor bolts hitting anything on my 86 250 wheels.... as for sprockets, i have a 12t front currently, and 38t rear on my rims....

I started this project as well based on OPs recommendation of the ninja wheels, and I've done a similar project using ninja wheels on a klr650 that didn't end very well. Things look MUCH brighter for this bike. Here's my video on it, and I'll be updating as I go.

Awesome job updating this with the videos. I had to laugh about the swing arm comment. "They just sort of come together" lol.
I do want to toss this out there as a potential option if you are willing to order from China and wait up to a month to get them. There are a couple of more popular bikes that use the same front and rear hub design as the Hawk, right down to the brake rotor and speedo drive of the front hub, and sprocket and rear rotor of the back hub. One such bike is called the CQR250, and there are Sumo wheels available for them through TaoBao (and probably Yoycart, etc). Here are a couple of examples. https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=...7207:593705943 https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=...7207:158258612 They come with the tires, and are about $95-$105 for both rims with the tires. If you purchase through engtaobao, the shipping to the U.S. will likely be in the $150-200 range (maybe even a bit more). mainly due to the weight. I am searching for just the wheels to cut the weight down and lower the shipping a little bit, but I have strongly considered ordering a set for my own Hawk for around town use so I can throw a set of more aggressive tires on it when I desire more dirt in my life. Just figured I would share. I am trying to decide if I want to order these first, or a set of the same hub and spoke style but with 21 and 18 inch wheels for my current tires (about $70). |

Those wheels don’t fit the Hawk ( I own a CQR A3/5 model the cheapest type with usd forks) I’m not sure which do as it’s not common in china I thought about having wheels built but costs get out of hand and logistically a nightmare as I’ve done similar for the RX3 Costs get to $200 a wheel total no tyre if using decent parts n shipping tk the USA (that’s leaving me a smallish margin but a fair headache) |

I can order just the hubs if necessary and test fit them. Would be way cheaper than buying a whole wheel. https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm...ucket=2#detail about 25 bucks plus whatever shipping would cost. Would be a much cheaper way to verify fitment than dropping 250-300 bucks on a whole wheel set. |
Some additional useful info for custom spacers:
Front axle- Hawk 12mm Ninja 15mm Rear axle- Hawk 15mm Ninja 17mm Rear wheel: Brake bracket spacer oem hawk 25mm od Ninja spacer 28mm od 15mm width Ninja sprocket side 35mm od spacer 16mm wide Hawk 28mm od 26.3 width Ninja wheel bearing info: Front two #6202 - 15mm ID / 35mm OD Rear one #6203 - 17mm ID / 40mm OD one #6303 - 17mm ID / 47mm OD Sprocket carrier: one #6205 - 25mm ID / 52mm OD Sleeves maybe? Rear could be fitted but the forks don't have much meat to size out. I just ordered all the parts needed to convert my stock wheels to 520 and a ninja sprocket to 39t (so I can swap and use the same chain.) I'm already 200$ deep and haven't done any permanent modifications except cutting that speedo holding nub off. NZBrakeLathes, any idea as to why they won't fit? There is a hawk 250 model available in the us that has 'street wheels/tires" but I'd have to Google it to see what it is. Those wheels look much closer to stock than the ninja wheels, though. |

This would work for the front. http://metric-steel.spahrmetric.com/...08-15-01-512-0 For the rear. http://metric-steel.spahrmetric.com/...08-17-01-015-0 This would allow you to use the Hawk axles on both wheels. |
Yoycart comes to about 600$ with shipping, I'd bet engtaobao isn't far off. What a shame, they only ask 50-80 for the set...100$ on yoycart. They look like an exact fit, too.
|
My CQR is a 15mm front axle
Solid rear sprocket mount too. The Hawk Hubs are not the same as CQR even the basic version like mine (unless conventional shock version differs but those shocks are bigger I thought at well) but I’m not clear on what the hawk actually is So many variables |
If I had samples of hubs it’s possible to make wheels etc
Hub plus spoke option plus rim option to quality or cheap etc CQR parts are maybe just a little better then hawk but there’s better than that as well. I’ve looked and searched Taobao as I’m local but not really seen a confirmed fit Hawk is very much an odd ball bike and not sold in china Just a few were sold randomly but not the same I have a couple stripped bike and one has usd forks but no wheel or swing arm So even for me I can’t test fit etc |

I think the older "traditional" fork CQR wheels used the same bearings as the Hawk though. I know I saw a set of hubs with the right bearing inner diameters for a CQR, so there has to be something out there. The TT250 uses a similar rear hub as the CQR and the same axle diameter as the Hawk out back, so it exists to some degree. The hard part is finding what I found before. |
