Took a plunge... trying a PP LXR250 EFI
I wasn't sure if this fit in Dual Sport/Enduro or not. Feel free to move it or I can start over in the appropriate place if you would like. My intent is to use this bike (Pitster LXR250 EFI) as a mini-adventure bike.
My goal is to see if this bike can handle the variety in altitude, terrain and temperatures a typical year throws at us. We ride in Nevada, Utah, Idaho and occasionally N. Arizona. I want to use this thread to document this bike as it is one of the few fuel injected 250s I've seen from China. The crated bike is sitting in my garage now and I will take pics and post them here as we put it together. I also plan to weigh it as shipped before riding it. Any suggestions from the group or requests can be done too. On the way home I had to stop and tighten the straps: http://i.imgur.com/VzItZnQ.jpg?1 Here is a peek with the crate partially unboxed: http://i.imgur.com/9Alf5su.jpg?2 |
very nice! very interested to see what you do with it!

Me too... :hmm: A few more pics and a question for the gurus here: http://i.imgur.com/nCPoh4y.jpg A shot of the underside and linkage: http://i.imgur.com/ZRzzyKz.jpg |

Comes with a cooling fan on one side:

Ok. Last 2
Triple clamps look nice and adjustable: http://i.imgur.com/7baZqQT.jpg Skid plate: http://i.imgur.com/K6bEdUs.jpg |
The motor looks like a copy of a Honda CRF250....
.. |
That's a nice looking ride. Where did you get it from, or did I miss that?
|
Beautiful looking bike:tup: now I need a bib. :hehe:
|
From what I can tell, that looks like a pretty nice bike.

Put it together this afternoon.

Headlight is a 35 watt halogen and is very bright!
http://i.imgur.com/GBxO925.jpg I was pleasantly surprised to see that the bike came with a tool kit, software and the USB to EFI adapter needed to use the software!! http://i.imgur.com/NHnz2EB.jpg |
Tools included. Not many, but they seem pretty well made.

Bike has a nice dash.
http://i.imgur.com/TxG4578.jpg?1 The tachometer has a cool feature where it holds the last shift rpm for a second as you go through the gears. The picture isn't very clear, but the screen is. It has a gear shift indicator, Neutral light, and high beam indicator which I find nice to have. We weighed the bike using a crane scale and suspended it from the ceiling. Without the headlight, handguards and mirrors it weighed 266 lbs (120.6 kg). With all the accessories it weighed 271 lbs (122.9 kg). So it is a bit porkier than advertised, just like all the "big name" bikes we have weighed in the past. The good news is that it feels much lighter than the tale of the scale. |
First startup
The bike comes with a bottle of blue coolant that says "Volkswagen Accessary Genuine Parts".
We filled the radiator and had a bit left over. Oil level is read via site glass or window on the case cover. I'm not a huge fan of that, but we will see how it goes. One minor complaint is that it is a tough motor to add oil to because of the exhaust routing. Might need to get creative there. Fresh fuel was added; it was obvious that some old fuel was left in from the factory. Bad smells for sure. The biggest surprise came when we opened the battery box and found a super lightweight Lithium battery from the factory!! Score! We also pulled the air filter out as it seemed a bit dry. (no oil) Access is through the left side cover with 2 screws and it looks like a standard filter and said "Twin Air" on the grommet. There is a plastic frame and mesh screen similar to other brands. Filter was oiled and put back in. The motor fired up right away, but was obviously very rich. The bike struggled to idle. This is probably due to the 4700+ foot altitude here vs. the close to sea level factory where the bike was last started. We decided to ride it up and down the street and allow the EFI to try tuning it in. (Did I mention that this bike has an Oxygen sensor too?) After we had things warmed up and the EFI did its thing, we were able to adjust the idle air screw on the throttle body and get a nice steady idle. Restarting was super quick and the motor made no bad sounds. |
Wow, so you can program the f.i. tune ???
Amazing. Is this the back door device into the rx3? Can you show the input port to the bikes controller? This is interesting. |
congrats on that beast! Member MrClean67 owns one as well...you guys should compare notes.
|
thats nice a real enduro... not a duel sport , trail bike carrying the enduro tag...
122kgs is ok concidering it has the road gear.... ... |
The quality of that bike, just from the pics, looks leaps and bounds over what the hawk and enforcer look like... It's crazy how much better quality it looks. I'm embarrassed by my bike after seeing those pics

put a 1 ohm pentometer in one of the wires then at the twist of a nob you can tell lies to the ECU about the air temp... the ECU will richen or lean the air/fuel ratio.... everything still works as normal but at a higher or lower air temp ratio than what it really is... i have one on my Yamaha XT660R.... if i'm just cruseing I lean the A/F out a bit. or come to a hill or offroad I richen it up.... .. |
That is a beautiful bike.

The fast ace suspension on that bike costs more than a complete hawk .
|
I hadn't seen the price of that bike. $3800?...almost 4 Grand!... Not that the pitster isn't nice looking... But when you get in that price bracket, it makes it tough to rationalize getting a Chinese bike over a more mainstream one.

The picture of the cable above shows the end that plugs into the Kayo EFI; it looks very different than the RX3 EFI plug. |

In the end I got a waaay better price. (Closer to $3000) Plus, I could not find a used 250 with EFI. A new Wr250 is $8000, so I can buy 2.5 LXRs and still be ok. If this bike wasn't as well finished as it is, I never would have popped for it. |

BUT; when you look at the purchase price of the bike, see the quality in it's parts, and one more MAJOR thing: take all the performance mods you can think of and throw them at an Enforcer, Brozz, whatever....anddollar for dollar this bike is worth it. My Brozz was $1700 shipped to my door. Since, I've probably dumped another $500 (just guessing) so now we're up to $2200 bucks. After that money was spent I will end up with a bike with LITERALLY HALF the power-to-weight ratio that this bike has BONE STOCK. I'm a new rider and can already see myself outgrowing the Brozz. This 32hp machine may be more $ initially, but in the long run, I bet this machine gives longer lasting enjoyment. Anybody want to buy a 2016 Brozz with only 10 miles on it? Comes with ALOT of upgrades  |

I'm certainly curious to see how it does on fuel economy. I've a hunch that it runs richer than necessary to make that extra power. |
