Speedometer calibration?
Does anyone know how to calibrate the speedometer on the 2020 Vader or any other NEWER Chinese bike? I've tried Youtube, calling these dealers, attempting to contact Baodiao themselves.
- The trick with holding the left button after startup does nothing. - The trick with holding both buttons after startup does nothing. I am about 7-10mph off and simply cannot just "wing" the speed all the time. If anyone can help me with this please. Thanks! |
Btw...both of these methods do not work on my 2020 Vader.

I also had no luck. Speedo is off by about 20%. Says 60mph at a gps 50 mph and it jumps around too. I noticed in the video when the dash boots up it sweeps up then down on the rpm gauge. With mine it just sweeps down from the top. Seems anyone with the freshest batch of these vaders hasn't been able to crack it. I'm just happy my rpm and gas gauges work. I use my cell phone for speed for now.

I did the speedo cal on my 2020 Vader per the video (FOR THE MOST PART) When you turn the key ON, you much push BOTH buttons at teh same time rather quickly. Then it will advance to teh E2 screen. If you get it wrong, do it again until it hits it. Then follow the rest of the film. Took me about 15 minutes to figure it out about hitting the 2 buttons really quick after you turn the key on. Yes. This really sucks. Hard to believe they would use something that is so far off, and that can't be calibrated. Seems the only solution for a working speedo is to replace the entire unit with one that can be calibrated? Has anyone here tried that? Maybe one like this? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005...5cd42e0eo9J1Zd

Install the SpeedoDRD U1. It's a universal calibrator. Very easy to install and calibrate any digital speedometer.

I wondered about changing the pickup, if there were different wheels with different contact spacing. Or something. This is interesting. At $80 its twice the price of a different gauge that can be calibrated. Like the one I linked.

how do you calibrate x-pro x24 aka Baodiao bd250-5
Does anyone know how to calibrate this model?
Pressing both buttons simultaneously after turning ignition does bring it to a program screen and shows “p0000”. What do I do after that? This is the speedometer- [URL="https://www.amazon.com.au/KIKYO-Motorcycle-Speedometer-Tachometer-Replacement/dp/B08QZNGGVM" |
Hi I'm new here and I'm looking for the answer to this same question. Has anybody figured it out yet? I have the sweep down version and so far all I can do is change from miles to km, change the color, and set the time. My speed is off by at least 10mph and jumps around a lot too.
I'm assuming most ppl here have had to upgrade yall's hardware? I bought my 2020 3 months ago with less than 300 miles on it. I have put a thousand miles on it since, but as we know that number is wrong because the speedometer is not calibrated right. Is there any possible way to fix this without having to buy some new hardware? Thanks yall! |
Never could figure out how to change it on my Chinese scooter so I added an $18 GPS speedometer. It has a bright LED display and is powered by USB. Always accurate unless you're in a tunnel or parking garage.
|
Yeah I've been using my phone but that's frustrating bc we shouldn't have to use GPS. Oh well, I mostly wanted my odometer to be right.

You can get cheaper than $80 on Aliexpress. That is if you want to take a chance on it being the same thing. It looks like it, but the Chinese-English descriptions are a little wonky.

There are also people that make their own speedometers with cheap micro-controller development boards.

I found this link I have a boom bd250-5 superbike that I got from Venom Motorsport Currently have 6,000 miles For the longest I hated how the mph was off by 15 to 20 also hated how every other bike was easy to get to settings but not this one haha and here they tell you the code to enter for P0000 to get into settings and other codes When I found it, i had to try it instantly, tried the code and it works just need to test my bike but had to make an account to let others know It works 6610 code and I put c as either 1699 or 1700 everything else I leave Could change 2-004 to 2 and it will make the rpm idle lower |

So I bought the Aliexpress speedometer calibrator in the post above, and it works perfectly on my 21 Vader (it's from Venom Motorsports). This model year has the non-adjustable speedo, but the Aliexpress unit was simple to install and set. I thought my speedo was off by about 20%, so I slowed it by 20% on the calibrator and it was perfect with no further adjustments. For 25 bucks, it's nice to have that fixed.

Is this speedo calibrator necessary to correct the 22 Templar speedo? Mine reads 3mph fast at 45mph.
|
This will fix any bikes speedometer and any cars speedometer for that matter. Any sensor sending electronic signals to the dash display down a signal wire can be corrected up or down.

That’s one way to do it and the same speedometer on the Templar that is not the OEM one they’ve custom ordered for the bike will do that. You are simply changing the parameter used in the speed calculation in the dash. When you don’t have access to change that then this is a universal way to fix it. The parameter remains fixed but with this device you are changing the input signal value up or down to force a correction through input signal rather than tire diameter.
|
So then my options are: new speedo for $28, in-line calibrator for $25 or live with 7% speedo error. I'll live with it for now but it's good to know how to fix it later. Thx.
