And then there were Three-Venom Ghost 250

So i pulled the trigger last week and have a New 2020 Venom Ghost coming. It shipped out late Friday. :yay: I spent most of the day Saturday cleaning out my shed to make room for the new arrival. :D I didn't realized how much junk I've collected over the years. lol I got to ride the X22R for a little while on Sunday but it was still too windy to take it out on the highway. Wind from hurricane Delta have been blowing pretty hard even after it pasted. Nice and calm today so took the X22R to work even with the heavy fog. I got the girls cleaned so they can meet there new friend. lol It's Thanksgiving in Canada so my tracking number hasn't been updated so I'm not sure of the exact delivery date yet.

Yaa. Gonna look good! The Harleys are gonna be mad!
|
That’s a nice looking bike
|
Thanks guys. I already have a windshield ordered for the winter time. We have very mild winters so pretty much ride year round. I'll probably throw some saddle bags on too.

I do not envision you wringing out all the power gains you did on the X22R, but there are those boring weekends... ;)

Well even though the bike was picked up late friday, with the Canadian Thanksgiving holidays the bike didn't officially start moving till yesterday. The tracking finally updated this morning and has the estimated delivery date for Monday. If it moves as fast as my last bike I thinking I'll have it by Friday. Last one took 3 days from Brampton. Fingers crossed. We shall see. |
Got to love Venom Motorsports. Great communication. They sent me my Bill of Sale so I can get the insurance in place before the bike even arrives. Since it's a new model bike it wasn't in Gieco's system yet so working with them to get it added in. I had the same problem when i got my X22R but Gieco added it in that day. The notary tag place is only a couple of blocks from my office so I'll have it tagged as soon as the bike with the MCO arrives. So no waiting for MCO and Bill of Sale a week after the bike arrives.
|
I was looking at the shipping weight. 295 lbs. That's about 30 lbs. more that the X22R was. I'll definitely have to do more performance mods to compensate for that extra weight. lol
|
I'm guessing right now everyone is probably asking. "why another Bike?"
#1- I'm bored, need something to tinker with. lol #2- I love my Hawk and X22R. The Hawk is great for off road but not the best for street. The X22R is a fun and comfortable bike. I really like this bike more than I thought i would. Handles the twisties with ease. Con- It's not the best winter bike. Unless you are tucked in behind the windshield, that cold air to the chest and face gets old quick. Or is it I'm getting old. lol #3- I choose the Ghost because it looks more my style, Old :hehe: Its has the same engine as the X22R which can easily be modded for way more power. Been there done that. It will make a better winter bike once I add a full windshield. I'll add Hard saddle bags for more storage. I can put my laptop in the saddle bag instead of a back pack. Something that is kind of hard to add to the X22R. #4- what's wrong with owning three different styles of bikes? You got to have something for each style of riding right? :lmao: No worry, I'm not giving up the X22R. I'll still ride the heck out of it. |
Poor Jerry has himself all worked up over the new bike (can't really blame him), but do not fret folks, Dr Frank has already prescribed him a healthy dose of Adderall and Dilaudid to get him through this rocky time. But folks DO NOT enable or encourage this behavior! If he starts "pre-occing" just reply with "yes Jerry, that is a nice bike", and immediately change the topic of discussion. We'll get him through this, one way or another, maybe Dan could offer up some of his cannabis, IDK.
|
:lmao: And this is coming from a man who has purchased two Hawks, TBR7, dirt bike, ATV and a high powered mobility scooter. And I'm the one that needs help? :lmao: Frank has it so bad that he buys them for family members just so it doesn't look as bad. lol Don't worry about the cannabis, my brother in law works on a hemp farm in Colorado. ;)

Okay, so i got the bike insured through Geico. Only cost me $6 more. That $105 a year for all three bikes. :D According to tracking the bike is still sitting at the Canadian border so i guess it will be a Monday delivery. I was looking forward to working on it over the weekend and getting in some break-in miles. Oh well, I guess I'll have to go ride one of the other bikes and think about what I'll be doing next week on the Ghost. lol
|
Okay, I was told on the phone it would be $6 more. When i went online to check it's still only $99 a year. lol She did say the $6 was because it wasn't in there system yet but she did mention it might go back down once it was entered into the system.

Bikes in Detroit. Only 1100 miles to go. It's going to be a long weekend.

Jerry
would be interesting to see how the bike fits you. I am toying with the idea of getting one as well. I am 6'2" tall and wonder how the seating position is on the new machine. Carl |
Cool. I guess I'll find out tomorrow. It's scheduled to arrive Monday afternoon. :yay:
|
Well so much for getting my bike in today. Checked tracking and it states "Shipments delayed due to customs inspection" The bike has been in Wilmington, OH since Saturday. Still there this morning. So I guess I'll have to wait till R&L gives me a call with an updated delivery.
|
The bike is in New Orleans which is about 60 miles from here. I was told yesterday that it should be delivered today but will call me today if there are any changes. I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas. :yay:
|
Update. Due to me living on a dead end street the bike will have to be delivered tomorrow on a small truck with a tailgate lift. I could have it today if I wanted to have it delivered to our shop here at work but that means loading it in back of my truck and having to unload it at the house without any help. I've done that with my Hawk and wasn't fun. I have a bad back so I'm not attempting it. I think I can wait just one more day and have it delivered right where i want it under my carport without having to touch it. So between 3pm and 5pm tomorrow I should have my bike. I can't blame R&L for the delays. They have no control over the border, customs and Canadas Thanksgiving holidays. That alone was a 5 day delay.

Well yesterday started off real bad for me. I woke up and the whole right side of my face had this huge rash and my right eye was swollen up along with a big fat lip. Looked like i lost a heavy weight boxing match. I headed to the doctor first thing. Was diagnosed with shingles. Let me tell you, it's very painful. If you are old do your self a favor and get the vaccine. I wish I would of.
Now the good news. My bike arrived around 5pm yesterday and R&L wheeled it out right under my carport completely damage free. I had to wait till the sun went down so i could uncrate it as the sun made it very painful on my face and eye. It took less than an half hour to uncrate it, slap the handle bars on, install the mirrors, Install the sealed lead acid battery. (Nice upgrade Venom) checked the oil and put gas in her. She cranked right up. I ran it through a few heat cycles with the stock oil. Like my X22R it actually felt and looked like oil with no fishy smell. lol I'll change that out Saturday. I took her for a few rides up and down the street and let if cool down in between. First impression is Venom did a great job working with the manufacture on this build. Most of the things i suggested and other probably did were done. Things like LED headlight and bulbs all around. Headlight is nice and bright as you will see in the video. It has a USB port on the Speedometer, came with a sealed lead acid battery. Mirrors are good and solid with no vibration what so ever. It takes a little effort to adjust them so don't thing they will ever need adjusting again. BTW Took me about 15 minutes to get her tagged and registered this morning. Ready to ride. :yay: Here's a quick video i put together thanks to my daughter for the good camera work. I'll post up more over the weekend. Right now i need to stay out the heat and direct sunlight. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_vf6Xu9Cig |
Ghost
Looks great and the headlight looks really bright. Looking forward to more pics and videos, hopefully they will offer it in other colors in the future. Looks like a cross between a Harley Sportster and a Yamaha Bolt.

I'm sorry you got Shingles. I hope you feel better real soon. We're the same age and so far I've managed to dodge that bullet. I'm really interested in your new bike and looking forward to your updates!

Is it actually a 250cc engine?
