A few Problems???

I have a couple of problems, Im not sure if its normal but my bike idle was at around 1200 rpm , I got 10mph out of it at 4000-4500 rpm???
Seems way to high......anyways I adjusted the idle screw between 1400-1800 rpm at idle, it ran a little faster about 15 mph at same rpm....the other thing Im not sure how it could be related but my steering seems alot stiffer???
I set the idle back to 1200rpm and steering is still stiff, if anyone knows anything help would be appreciated..the bike is a Huansong Viva vx200s!

Thanks!

I'm not sure if I understand your question completely but it sounds like your throttle cable is being pinched, pulled, or some how tangled up and not allowing your throttle to completely close and not allowing your steering to rotate freely.

IronFist 06-18-2008 04:27 PM

I have nothing intelligent and helpful to say. Sorry.

theENIGMATIC 06-18-2008 05:00 PM

Thanks lego, I thought of that..Ill check it out more later, I think your right!
No prob Iron, its probably just something to get used to!

Thanks!

Rizn 06-18-2008 05:50 PM

HA HA HA No prob Iron, its probably just something to get used to!

did u mean Irons comment or your bike

theENIGMATIC 06-18-2008 06:51 PM

LOL.....probably both.....nah...just kidding Iron!

theENIGMATIC 06-20-2008 05:19 PM

Well I thought there was a rubber band to keep grease from the bearings from leaking, but it turns out it was just dried up grease....I cleaned it up and steering is better...needs some more scraping and lube though......

Frog 06-25-2008 10:36 AM

I'm not sure I understand this one BUT...............

the only two common ways for road speed to vary with revs are
1. different gear selected
2. the clutch is slipping

I would check the clutch cable - that may be the one mucking up the steering also.

Is this a drunken post?? It makes no sense......

Frog 06-25-2008 10:54 AM

Don't know about drunk but enigmatic is about right! :D

Reverse

Does the steering feel tight when it's in reverse?

Rizn 06-25-2008 02:03 PM

this topic is in reverse

I don't know how idle is affecting road speed?????????
I was going to say something like, release the clutch next time you're on the road

Or, are you sure you weren't in 2nd gear... That's how you go faster at the same RPM. :P :P :P

I'm learning how to keep my mouth shut, but I'm just learning. :o

theENIGMATIC 06-25-2008 02:42 PM

Idle speed is the minimum operating speed (generally measured in revolutions per minute, or rpm, of the crankshaft ) of a combustion engine . At idle speed, the engine generates enough power to run reasonably smoothly and operate its ancillaries ( water pump , alternator , and, if equipped, other accessories such as power steering ), but usually not enough to perform useful work, such as moving an automobile

well Im not too familiar with all the mechanical terminology but as is above my minimum engine speed was 1200rpm, at 10mph the engine speed was around 4500-5000rpm...I dont know maybe that makes no sense..:)

Generally I would expect rpm to drop after changing to a higher gear.my bike was not.probs fixed for now.thanks dudes! :P

IronFist 06-25-2008 02:51 PM

But will changing the idle speed, affect the speed of the bike at any given RPM?

theENIGMATIC 06-25-2008 03:06 PM

I guess Iron.if the idle speed is set higher the bike goes faster from take-off.I was getting 10mph off the take off at 5000rpm..changing into 2nd gear wouldnt drop the rpm much so at top speed I would have maxed out the red line......I did adjustments to the carb and its running alot better.my general question would be what is your bikes idle speed and how much speed can your bike handle in first gear??
I can get 10-15mph smooth in first now at around 3500-4000 rpm much better than the max 10mph in 1st at 5000 rpm, seems like I was having that problem.....either that or my guages are all screwed up or perhaps Im drunk like Tecleose mentioned...who cares...my bike runs good I fixed it just thought you guys might have had a similar prob...next time I will try to be more specific- next time I have a problem, thanks again for the help!

IronFist 06-25-2008 03:15 PM

Brother I'm no pro!!!!!!!
I'm trying to learn, that's all.
I had trouble understanding your question, and honestly I waited to see what others wrote so I could understand. As long as your bike is happy, I'm happy :D

theENIGMATIC 06-25-2008 03:19 PM

No problemo brother.Im no pro either although Im sure there are a few on the site......obviously they didnt understand either.....
Ill try to keep my mouth shut a little more around here as well.....take care...

IronFist 06-25-2008 03:28 PM

Don't you dare......Post Away!!!!!!

People asking questions is how I learn and how this site works. Ask good questions, ask stupid questions but don't stop asking. It only sounds stupid till it strands you at the roadside. There are no stupid questions here. I'm hungry for info. I read all posts eventually. Someday I'll know enough, but that day ain't any time soon. Try to make the topic of your thread as specific as you can, and ask away. :D

Glad its sorted :D

There was no need for some of the comments. However your question is still confusing. The good thing is the bike is doing what you want it to do. The confusing part to me is that road speed and engine speed are constant on a manual transmission. If first gear redlines at 15mph then it will do so forever untill you change out gearing or tire size, unless of coarse your clutch is slipping or your tach or speedometer is out of whack, or your doing a wheelie. Adjusting the carb will not make a difference or change the rpms for a given speed in a certian gear. Anyway, none of this matters if your happy with the bike. Take care.

Well said., Thankyou Lego. I was pretty sure, but I wasn't sure.

Rizn:
Thats why I said. I have nothing intelligent and helpful to say. Sorry.

theENIGMATIC 06-25-2008 04:01 PM

Sure lego but can adjusting the idle not prevent the bike from a redline too quickly....maybe not.but the bike is running alot smoother now that I have done the adjustment.at least thats what I see......could just be the eye of the beholder thing.I dunno!
Every question can be confusing. If someone really wanted to help they would ask questions and let me know whats so confusing.....Hats of to Iron and Lego for attempting to answer my question.my point is if you dont understand the question you can mock and say "Is this guy Stupid".or you can help out by asking questions yourself.I think I have done my best to answer some questions to the best of my ability even though they have all been hard to answer, and I might have been wrong....I think I would look like the idiot if I were to say I dont understand the question in response to other peoples problems......sometimes an attempt at helping can solve problems...I drive a China bike too...I would like to be of an assistance to others sometimes, if I can, and the longer I drive one the more help I can be, but to be treated like an idiot over a question I asked wrong, and still have no idea how I asked wrong, Im in danger of making the same mistake again, so I will just Taboo my knowledge and experience or lack there of in the meantime, thanks! :D

IronFist 06-25-2008 04:17 PM

Hats of to Iron and Lego for attempting to answer my question:D

I so rarely do something good around here, but I think Lego should take the bow. Well said Lego.

lego1970 06-25-2008 04:46 PM

No problem. I drove trucks for several years and there is nothing more frustrating then trying to explain a problem or ask a question to a mechanic over the phone or in this case thru writing. If one of was there in person your question would probably make a lot more sense. Take care.....
