MSRP of 5500 against the Himi's expected price north of that, RE may have a sales problem if they market the CFMoto right.

XLsior 11-09-2023 03:58 PM

even if they are priced just shy of each other I'd take the 270* parallel twin of the 450MT.

I'm seriously considering saving up my spare change till the Australian release date of around Q2 2024 for the MT450.

Ive got enough clapped out aircooled singles to tinker with but having spanking a new twin cylinder is mighty appealing.

The 450MT other than perhaps wet weight is looking like a unicorn for most average Joes...
I'm also of the opinion that its a decent looker too...

I think CF Moto nailed it...

I just bought a Benelli TRK502 back in August... but I may have to trade it in on the CFMoto. If I can get a test ride and it can do everything the Benelli does with 100lbs less weight, it will be a no-brainer must-have bike for me.

I just searched CF Moto Australia at current offerings.

the 450SR is $8300AUD ride away (same engine)

and the 650MT $9090 and 700MT $9990.

So it would be a safe estimate that the 450MT would be around the $8800...depending on base+optional extras.

depending on USA import fees and taxes and the current $ exchange rate you could take those aussie dollaroos which are hovering around 65c to the USD...so a 30% adjustment for USD.

Ball park estimates.

Current base model RE aircooled himmy is $8400...ride away

here in the states, speculation on the Himi 450 price is somewhere between 6500 and 7500. Guessing that the CFMoto MT will be around 6000 considering the 2023 SS is 5500.

if CFMoto goes higher and RE comes in at the low end of the range, there may not be much difference in price. Say 6200 vs 6500. then it becomes a comparison of specs and, of course, side-by-side comparisons.

Something else to consider. if RE comes in at the mid-point of those estimated prices, say 7000, how could you not consider a base KLR650 with an MSRP of 6900. it's heavier by around 50 pounds. but you get japanese quality and a huge aftermarket.

XLsior 11-10-2023 05:42 PM

Yes the RE Himmy 452 will be close to the KLR650 in terms of price...

The MT450 I suspect will be considerably cheaper given the other model specs/prices CF Moto has on offer.

I see people complaining about the MT450 power to weight as well...But is if costs half as much as the other bikes these people are comparing it to then I don't think this bike was for them and their uncompromised unicorn will never exist...

This is true...

However every review I see regarding CF Moto is suggesting fit and finish is as good if not better than the current Japanese offerings.

Japan is getting lazy and thier economy is not great...

China might have its own social political issues...but pretty much all the tooling and materials used by other country manufactures is also made in China.

Most of this bikes now are built without human interaction...its all just robots not Japanese welders in the 1970s

I actually see this as competition for the Versys 300 and the CB500X. It's the same weight as the Versys 300 and just a few ponies less than the CB500X. This is the unicorn that people have been wanting.

XLsior 11-14-2023 06:09 PM

Yep the segment is filling up.

I would call them mid range highway capable ADV* under 10k (AUD)

With the page looking like...

RE Himmy 452.
Honda NX/CB 500X
CF Moto MT 450
Versys 300 and KTM 390 are both over $10k new (AUD)

Off the showroom floor there is little doubt the CF Moto 450MT will be significantly cheaper while offering more off road desirable features. Power and weight is where some might gripe along with the country of origin.

ChopperCharles 11-14-2023 08:36 PM

The Benelli TRK502 fits in there too, even though it's less off-road-shenanigans and more long-distance-touring.
