Check your right side cooling fan.

Came back from a 250 mile ride and went over the bike visually. Found the radiator hose rests on the right side radiator fan and has pushed it into the radiator and the fan doesn't move. I need to look further into it early this week week to find out if the fan is now damaged or the radiator itself. So check those fans and hoses.

Be sure to check all the welds too, I had one crack on mine. The rubber parts dry rot very quickly as well like the fuel drain hose and electrical connection boots.

Nailed it...

Good call CSaddict! I did about 4 hours today and it was hot. 102' in spots. The bike never pegged the gauge but I noticed when the fans were on, only the left one was on.

I got home and checked and sure as hell, the right fan was being halted by the hose. I'm not sure if this was something that may have misaligned from my last valve adjust or what. I know it was tight...everything is tight inside these bikes.

I thought of using a zip tie or something to pull the hose back a little for a quick fix but ended up making a small bracket and moving the right side of the fan down a scosche to clear the hose and leaving it in its natural place instead. All good now.

I checked mine and noticed two things: my fans are different, they have a cover over the rotating fins, and the top hose is routed far of it, anyway. So thanks for the heads up and the additional peace of mind.

Panasonic, hadn't noticed that before.

Yep, mine too

Perhaps these "open" fans have only been fitted to later bikes.

Can't really see this style of fan as being an upgrade

Or maybe it's a U.S. thing. Both of ours are from the early, first shipment here and we have the open fans.

With yours being from the first shipment, then yeah, it does seem to be the case.

:)

I wonder why the decided to change the fan design for the U.S RX3 :hmm:

I know. One would think that they'd have the fans completely shielded here so the high speed toddler that was following you down the road at 60 mph couldn't get their fingers caught in it. ;-)

Mine is a '16 and the fan is open, both left and right. The right fan housing is touching a radiator hose but the fan itself spins freely. I think I'll rotate the right fan down a bit just to get away from that hose.

My advice: check both radiators!

Hello.

Last week I´ve found the same situation but on both radiators.
The water hoses pushed over one half of the plastic holding piece, bending it against the radiator surface.:ohno:

Left assembly:
Attachment 7784

Right assembly
Attachment 7787

On my bike (350miles only) the fan just touched slightly the right radiator surface; but at the left side it eroded the surface and two wings of the fan become broken.

Left radiator:
Attachment 7785

Left fan:
Attachment 7786

Right radiator:
Attachment 7788

Not cool at all Juan Carlos. When I found my right side hitting the hose, I figured it was from me moving it all around for the valve adjustment, but you only have 350 miles on yours. My left one seems fine.
