Front sprocket lock stripped again!!

1 Attachment(s)
Hello everyone :hi:

I'm having issues with my 250cc Shineray XY250GY-6B 481E, the engine is the 169FMM Honda clone, the front chain sprocket lock is getting stripped frequently, I have no clue why  Any ideas what could be the issue?

:thanks:

After reading a post here about drive chains I think I have a clue of what might be the issue, I recently replaced the stock chain with an o-ring chain, the stock chain was garbage, I had to adjust it daily, I wonder if the new o-ring chain is the issue?

Did your chain come off the front sprocket at some point and wedge itself between the sprocket and the sprocket cover?

Mudflap 09-13-2016 05:41 PM

Or is the chain alignment really off?

Yes it did, the sprocket came off the rod as well, is the chain busted?

I've not seen that before.

Looks like a Honda retention system have you tried a Honda part? May hold up better.

so retainer striped and sproket isnt?

the sproket seems to need to be shimmed to fit better on the toothed part of the shaft. it appears like the toothed part of the shaft is only contacting the retainer

is the shaft damaged?

That is very weird. I really don't see any way for it to happen because all of those parts spin at the same speed and don't wear on each other. I would need to see the entire assembly and study on it for awhile.

A local mechanic told me it is a chain alignment issue, the bike is at his shop at the moment, let's see if that fix it.

Thanks for the replies.

Cheers.

looks as if the chain has been riding on the heads of the two retaining bolts...

may pay to check the alinement of the front & rear sprockets...

It keeps happening!! >:(

Chain aligment and tension are as close to perfection as possible, don't know what else to do :hmm: Can this be caused by a bad output shaft?

It gets stripped from the front.

I don't understand what you mean by "It gets stripped from the front."

Sorry, English is not my main language. The side of the sprocket clip that gets grind by the output shaft is the front side, it grinds the clip's teeth and the sprocket comes off.

Here are a few pictures and a video, after close inspection looks like the shaft is worn, that's my last suspect
