How many miles to much for Japan bike?
Ok, this is not about a China bike, but I wanted to ask some opinions. I have an opportunity to get a 2010 kawasaki klx250sf for 2300..it has 17000 miles on it though. It looks great and the maintenance was supposedly kept up with. Is that too many miles to feel comfortable with in your opinions?
Thanks for all your input !! |

Even oil cooled bikes can easily last 50,000 or more miles depending on how it was treated... if they can prove it was taken care of I wouldn't hesitate to buy it... if I had the cash and was looking for another bike that is :hehe:

thanks! i appreciate the help...may have found a better deal with only 4000 miles on it.

Too many people focus on miles. I've owned a bike with 160,000 miles on it that ran perfectly - owned by an older gentlemen who meticulously cared for it, and I have had more than a few bikes with around 10k miles that needed full top ends, or new rings, clutches, etc. because the owners abused them, ignored service intervals, and otherwise simply beat them to death.
Don't get hung up on miles. How the bike was maintained and ridden is far more important than how many miles it has done. |
The KLXs are great bikes, but look it over. They're dual sports and they do get thrashed. As long as it has been maintained the mileage should not be a problem.

The KLX250 started life as the KLX300...
very strong bottom end... .. |
There are klx's out there with over 100,000 miles on the original engine and still going. It comes down to maintenance and using quality parts.
