Hawk 250 Jetting @ sea level
Hey guys, I've seen recommendations above sea level, I have a 125 main and stock small jet, it seems to idle strange and feels to be lacking power. Im in Florida so pretty much sea level elevation. I have factory exhaust, KN air filter with air box mod. Thinking maybe 120 main and 30 small, middle spot on needle?
I just ordered small jets and just hoping to get it as close to right as possible with one more opening of the carb. Also ordered what I need to fix any potential valve lash. |
Bloto, did you ever get this figured out? I was wondering the same thing.

I’m in GA, so a bit higher alt. but probably same setup would be fine. I’ve played with it a lot, this seems perfect. 40 slow jet.

Seattle
I mainly putter around about 100ft above sea level.
this is what I have done to my hawk since getting it. I have since had to upgrade to heavy duty rim strips as both tires have come up flat on me. I crank the motor about 5 seconds with the kill switch on then it starts right up without a the choke and runs great. http://www.chinariders.net/showthrea...638#post347638 |
I've seen several You Tube videos where they went with 110 or 115 on the Tao Motor TBR7 (same engine as Hawk) which came with an 88, and it worked well. 130 might be too rich.

110 main, 27.5 pilot jet on minkuni clone. 37.5 on factory carb for pilot jet, same 110 main.
