Turn Signals blink too slow
Has anyone had a problem with their turn indicators blinking way too slow??
Do I have mine plugged in wrong because they blink at about 1/4 the speed they should? I popped the right rear signal awhile ago and replaced it with the bulb from the front right signal which is when I noticed the rear right signal was now 8) blinking slow, I have since replaced them all and now they all do it WTF, anyone have a clue? thanks! |
when I first purchased my lifan the right turn signal blinked slowly. i took out both bulbs and replaced with new ones that I matched up at autozone. think they were some sort of utility bulb for european car. the new bulbs solved the blinker problem.

the way the signal works is there is a small piece of metel in the relay that heats up and breaks "or makes" contact to create the blink. if you are running a bulb that has a different power draw than the stock ones you will have this problem.
either find out how much power your drawing from the stock bulbs and match that, or find yourself A relay that the new bulbs will heat up with. IMO replace the signals and housing altogather the stock ones look really hookie and add a lot of chees to the bikes apperance. I got a nice set of turn signals off ebay for about 20 bucks. and they are sexy! |
thanks for the help, I will look into new bulbs, the rear signals are new and they to blink slow, the front are now part of my headlight and also blink slow, even the bulb from the front signal blinked slow in the rear signal housing, Ill look into it!

What is your battery voltage, the day after a ride, and before you start it up. My bike blinks slow when the battery is low.

I think you might be right, Im going to replace the fuse and see if that helps, the fuses I ordered should be in soon, thanks, I will let you know!
|
Most likely the bulbs in the new signals draw less power so it takes longer for the relay to heat up and break the connection.

thanks, this is all good to know, Ill see what happens as I fool with it for a bit!

Flasher relays come in different amp(?) ratings. You can buy heavy duty ones for trailering. You may need to find a lighter duty one that will flash with less draw.

I tore my signals off and now I have a chinese guy riding on the back who let's everyone know which way I am turning. I got him for 10.00 on ebay!

There isn't anyone to signal for in ND.
I still have the stockers and all four stock bulbs in mine. The lenses are fading, but they still work. Allen |
Nah! I am kidding. My blinkers work good. I haven't had any issues with my bike for about 2 weeks now. I guess I still haven't fixed the horn, so I have a little problem. :P

I took the front turn signals which I removed to hook up the signals that are part of my headlight and decided to put them in the rear position in replace of the newer signals, yup problem solved, so my new signals were a waste, I know next time to check voltage, thanks for the help dudes! :P
