163FML Motor

I am looking for the timing procedure to time the overhead cam to the crankshaft. Also does anyone know where I can buy a spare engine? I would rather buy the push rod type engine if I can find one.

a few weeks ago a guy parted out a new 200 on Ebay. The complete new OHC engine went for $280. You can never tell what youll find there.

I think the timing setup may be the same for a honda xl185 or xr200 from the early eighties.

I haven't seen any pushrod engines for awhile, but someone may have one.

The cam timing is easy, remove the screwed plug from the top of the generator case, turn the motor until the "T" mark appears in the hole and the scribed line on the cam sprocket should be horizontal, i.e. aligning with the cam cover/ cyl head joint.

I'm pretty sure Larry Hooper has some pushrod engines for sale, but I think they are non-counterbalanced.

All Star Salez has 230cc pushrod engines for sale, but I'm not 100% sure they will fit in the Lifan frame. Someone really needs to find this out, though.

Got it running

I tore the engine down the valves were bent I was able to fix them. I lapped the valves and the seats for a good seal. I cleaned up the piston and put it back togther. I did find a procedure from an old 250 honda and got it running. It runs pretty good but it needs the gearing changed. I paid 300 bucks for a bike with 370 miles on it not bad. By the looks of the valves and seats they were poorly seated in the first place, from the wear patterns on them.
