JetMoto 200 Enduro Problems
Hi!
I just picked up a Jetmoto 200 Enduro. It's a cool bike, but I have a couple of issues I hope you can help me with. 1) Battery is dead. Replacing. Found equivalent parts list on here. 2) When I have the bike connected to my battery charger and press the starter button I just be a buzz. It does not turn over. Starts okay from kick start. Do I need a new starter? How do I troubleshoot? Any insights/advice you experts can provide will be appreciated. Thanks - Kevin |
Re: JetMoto 200 Enduro Problems
You just be a buzz?
Oke, a battery charger charges, it doesn't start a bike unless a) it has a pretty decent output and b) is connected to a battery that is connected to the bike, that isn't shorted. Replace your battery and then see if you need to troubleshoot starter. duck Quote:

As Duck said, very few battery chargers have the 'cranking amps' to turn a bike over. Try jumping it with a car battery. If the starter doesn't turn over for a car battery then it is bad for sure.
When I replaced my battery I just took it down to NAPA and search through the batteries until I found the closest size. |
THanks!
Thanks Duck & Mr. Hyak - you guys were right on the mark!
I hooked it up to my car (car was off) and the starter fired right up. Now to hunt a battery. Thanks again! Kevin |
I'd jump start a crappy battery, but when you get a new one, treat it well.
1 or 2 amp trickle charger if it gets run down. When you are getting 12.6 the day after charging, take the bike out for a while. Pull over and recheck the battery. At 2000 rpm are you reading 14V across the terminals? The next day are you reading 12.6 again? Here is a test that might help. 1) Turn the headlight switch off 2) Connect the leads of the meter to the battery 3) Document voltage of the battery ______________ 4) Turn ignition switch on 5) KICK START the bike (so as not to drain the battery for this test) 6) Let the bike idle at 1,250 RPM 7) Document voltage of the battery ______________ 8) Rev the bike 9) Document voltage of the battery ______________ 10) turn the head light back on and let the bike idle at 1,250 RPM 11) Document voltage of the battery ______________ 12) Rev the bike 13) Document voltage of the battery ______________ This should let you know if you have any charging occurring, if that charging is regulated, and if the battery is good to begin with. |
Thanks!
Ironfist - thanks for the great test procedure. I'll make sure I run through that when I get my new battery.
Looking forward to running without the misfiring! ;-) Thanks for your help. Kevin |
