New Trunk
I got a cooler-type bag from Walmart for $11 and mounted it with j hooks to the rear carrier. I drilled holes through the bottom of the bag and used the hooks to bolt it on. I used some aluminum angle strips I had laying around on the inside of the bag, then a washer, lock washer, and nut on each hook.
As you can see, it's a very crude setup, but hey, it only cost around $15 for the whole works. Now we'll see if I ever use it. More pics in my gallery, page 16. http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...y/DSCN0470.jpg http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...y/DSCN0468.jpg |
You must not go after beer that often
That looks better than my milk crate! Is it possible to put the screws down through the bag, and fasten from below? That would keep the tomatoes from getting poked on the way home from shopping! Just a thought. Be sure to sand all burrs from your rigging. Way to go, Tigertamer |

That's if decide to keep the bag on the bike. I don't really dig the looks of it on the back and I'm not sure how much need I'll have for it. |
I wasn't kidding when I said it looked better than my milk crate.
I bet if you got a poll, the majority would say keep it  I think it looks good. nobody rides on the rack anyway! I'd keep it, Tigertamer |

I've gained a new attitude where I care less and less about looks, and find that my view from the saddle is what counts most. Another idea for the bottom is to cut a (few) flat section(s) of cardboard to use as a 'floor'. You can build it up with smaller bits until it sits flat on top, or poke holes in a lower floor for the bolts to ride in, and place a solid piece on top of that. And best of all, cardboard is free! Keep it! :) |
Looks really good to me.I would definatly keep it.

Chinaguy, you are TOO cool ! ! !
This is pure R & D, and I applaud anyone who starts with an idea and brings it to life. It is too easy to look at what someone else has done and criticize, but those brave souls who will never be satisfied with what is offered, adapting it to fit their needs, are in my opinion, innovators and contributors to improvement and a credit to society in general. |
