Sprocket Studs Hsun 200GY
 

Hey guys new member here.I like to first say that this site is awesome and the information has been very helpful and it lead me to purchasing my Bike.

Now here is my issue I was changing out my rear sprocket from the 56 to the 45 from JT.I didn't adjust the tension right and the chain came off damaging the studs that hold the sprocket on.I have tried the hardware store,The a Honda dealer,Lowes,Even called shooterdepot and they told me they don't carry the parts.I have a parts catalog but I have no ideal how to order from it.

First, let us know which bike you have. Second, please show us a photo.

I cant help you much but your question seems to be an impossible problem. The bolts are available, but you should not have been able to damage those bolts with a chain coming off? Sorry for my skepticism. A pic will explain.

I forget the title but there was another topic relating to replacing sprocket studs, and I think there was a part number from a Honda or something with identical parts... They won't order you parts for your bike though *because they don't order sunl parts), but if there is a honda part that works theyw ill order it... Where did your bike come from?

Ok, looking through the search results, I didn't find any part numbers, but I did find the topic I was thinking of, sadly it doesn't help. One member ended up drilling out the hole and using bolts instead of studs. You may be able to find some parts online though, you could call Bruce at EJ Cycles, his contact information is in the feedback forum I believe, but he may only be able to sell to AL customers, I am not certain. Hooper Imports may have the studs available too.

I would suggest replacing with a good grade 5 bolt or B7 All thread. I snapped the bolt off in the head trying to tighten up and exhaust leak had to remove the engine and weld nuts onto the broke off stud to get it out then I used B7 grade all thread and some 1200 degree RTV sealer and she leaks no more now.

Where did you get your rear sprocket? I', thinking of going down a few teeth.

I had the same thing happen when my chain broke and it ate the drive pins.

Bruce told me he has them or can get them. 330-274-0098

I am suppose to be getting a set too.

They are the same as the honda 1980 xl185.

Thanks guys for all the imput I'll try calling that number tomorrow.The Bike is a Hsun 200GY Just like what was posted on another reply,Here is a pic of the Stud in question. Its the Studs that the Sprocket bolts to,The treads are pretty much gone.I believe it might as well been cross treaded to begin with.

what is the sliver thin alum ring that attaches around the bolts to the sprocket what does that do is it necessary, they pulled mine when they pulled my 56 rear. :?:

I would assume that it is a hub protector ring, it is there so that if you throw a chain, the chain does not "eat" the hub (by getting between the hub and the sprocket). It's "value" to you can only be determined by you.

Its to protect the studs if the chain comes off.........kidding...... :lol:

I always thought that was to keep anything like clothing or weeds from catching on the bolts.

Where did you get your 45T sprocket? What is was the part number?
