E machine shop

I was thinking it would be neat to have a custom cookie cutter in the shape of my truck from work, for sugar cookies which could be done up with colored icing to match the paint job... I wasn't sure how to do this...

My sisters boyfriend apparently does cnc machining for custom kitchens, and said that could probably do it (not that he is suggesting it, or that it would be cost effective).

Anyways that got me thinking and I threw into to google custom cnc machining... And I came up with http://www.emachineshop.com

It seems like a pretty cool site, you can download a free cad program and they have video tutorials on how to use it. Then you can design you part and order it.

I don't think I'll use it for the cookie cutter, and it may be very costly, I don't know, but it's kind of neat. Thought I'd share.

That sounds very easy to do, the kitchen company should have some hard maple and it can be done with a simple pocket toolpath on the CNC. If he can't do it and you really want one let me know, i just need a picture of the truck, or let me know what kind of truck, i may be able to find the outline of it online, and i should be able CNC one out for you.

That's a generous offer... This is the sort of thing I'm going for, http://www.collectpeanuts.com/images...3/IMG_7808.jpg

I just don't want to get him in trouble at work using the equipment for non work related stuff...

Having fun learning this drafting program though, could come in handy for future reference... :)

So what kinda truck is it?

Jim 12-13-2010 12:04 AM

I'll send you a PM. It's a gravel truck.

katoranger 12-13-2010 11:18 AM

Jim, we need pics of your truck.

Weldangrind 12-13-2010 12:19 PM

We're gonna need cookies too.

What size cookies are you looking at making ?.

Jim 12-13-2010 08:33 PM

I don't know, about 5 or 6 inches long I suppose...

I haven't posted any pictures of the truck because it has a unique paint job and local members would probably identify it easily... I don't want to have my ramblings and rantings (political / religious / etc) associated with he company... Probably doesn't matter, but I dunno.

Allen, I don't know that the milk would be good by the time it got to you :P
