Has anyone installed one of these on a Lifan GY5? The first thing I'm having an issue with is the sensor to detect mileage. It says to put the provided sensor magnet on the front rotor, which makes sense, except on my bike the front brake covers the entire rotor.

The one I bought was tagged for Honda XRs.

I was going to get one of these for my "q" complete with the dashboard KIT (Built in Turn Signal Idicators, Shift indicator - Nutral Light, HiBeam etc.....) Instaed I decided to keep the OEM Dash and I added this: Well not yet it's on the way:

It has a FEW Features my stock dash does not. I will do a Install Thread when it arrives.

defianetley get some pictures going. The TrailTech website has a COMPLETE Accessorie area with tons of various parts for these computer kits. You may simply need another sensor type to make it work.

I was all set to put up some pictures of my front rotor etc and Photobucket is down for maintenance. :(

In other news, I have just discovered that I may have broken my garage door by using it as a bike hoist yesterday!!!!

WTF - That suks.....Harbor Freight has some nice Bike / ATV Jacks for 89 bucks! Maybe even cheaper if you can find a coupon. I think i'm gonna buy one, I SOLD My Craftsman to my buddy for his Harley when I was in Between Bikes. He really needed it so I let it go for $50 it was like NEW! Now I have to go buy a new one......Guess thats what I get for helping out.....Dang it! LMAO

I'm sorry to hear about your garage door; I don't think I can help you with that problem. :( However, if you can post some photographs of the brake rotor on you front wheel, I'm sure we can help you get your speed sensor installed. :)

There are 20% off coupons for HF in Cycle World along with lot of other magazines. I always carry one in my wallet. I've seen some coupons taken at HF that were photo copies.

BTW, I have a center stand on the way from China for my Qlink XF200. I'll start a new thread when it arrives.

The good news: I fixed my garage door.
More the good news: My clutch tool came today.
The BAD news: Fixing the door took so long that I have no energy to do any bike work.
More the BAD news: I hit my head while fixing the door and it's not as pretty anymore.

The door isn't as pretty? Don't worry, you can paint it.

I had a thought on all this. (took long enough) Has anyone had any experience changing out the front rotor on a gy200? I was thinking of changing it to an XR one since that's what the sensor was designed for but the ones I've seen look different than mine, mine has 4 bolts holding it and XR's have more and they mount differently. The ones I've seen anyway. I'm limited to what I can search on my work computer. :roll:

Do you have inverted forks? Most are having a hard time figuring out how to mount the sending unit solidly. Here's how I installed a bicycle speedo on my bike. I got some rare earth magnets from Radio Shack and put them in the allen head bolt heads. It took two to get them flush with the bolt head;

Then I drilled some holes in the fork guard so that could zip tie the sending unit to it. The bottom of my fork guard is attached with two machine screws so it's pretty solid. You can just see the tops of the screws heads below. I found that I had to cut a small piece of wood to make a wedge shape to align the sender to the magnet.

I think that the bolt head has worn a slot in the sender so I know I'm getting good contact. I didn't notice how rusty the magnets are getting before I took these pictures. I will have to take them out (only held by the attraction to the bolt and each other), clean, and maybe coat them with some clear poly or enamel.
