make sure you have free play at clutch handle and down on right cover also try shifting up w/o engine running rock the bike back and forth and try shift it up by hand also could be stuck clutch...

first you do not take rear wheel off ground to adjust chain, loosen axle just enough to be able to move chain adjusters hope that helps
