I finally go around to replacing the horrific airbox on my Lifan yesterday! I went with a simple Uni filter that is about 4" long. Other than the clamp being a PITA it went smoothly. Not sure if I mentioned in another post at one point that I did the C-clip mod and haven't used the choke since (even on the coldest days here).

I have to make a new spark arrestor insert because something bad happened to the last one. I think that bad thing could have been my hand sledge and chisel, but I digress - It was way too restrictive. The bike sounds meaner than any Honda 250 I've heard and it is very satisifying when you are getting down on the throttle.

I have no pictures which is rare, but messing around with filter oil + Droid = a slippery Droid and weirdness that cannot be explained.

My next mods will be Moose bars and a set of ProGrips. My daughter bless her heart wanted to help by moving the bike 4FT to the outside of the garage. She is 10 so needless to say the bike fell over (she is lucky it didn't kill her) and it tweaked my handle bars. The bend isn't awful, but now there is a weak spot in the controls and I don't play.

I'm getting a new tire for the rear to replace a worn out Duro. I loved the Duro and feel that after 11,000KM I got my monies worth! If I could get a front one I would probably go Duro all the way. The next tire I'm getting will be a match for the front. A Shinco 244 series http://www.shinkotire.co.kr/english/...ode=AA00050045. They are cheap and wear really well from what I can tell on the front. It is getting great reviews on other forums as well and @ $35 it is worth a shot.

In addition, this winter the paint booth will be set up! Wifey469 is a graphic artist and she agreed to duplicate the "GY" on the gas tank shroud, as well as a permanent "LIFAN" on the gas tank. She isn't even charging me! Currently I have peeling "LIFAN" stickers. I'm debating what would look cool on the front where there is a huge "5". Gawd the 5.... But for what it is worth I do like the "GY". So I'm open to suggestions about the "5". As far as the transformers style graphic on the front fender, that will be just a bad memory and some HA HAs for when I'm 80 around the campfire.

Items I need to upgrade: The chain tensioners are 100% garbage and I would love to have a decent aftermarket set that didn't suck. I'll probably end up fabbing some so I can reinforce the swing arm. The sides are pinching a little because the recommended torque is not as recommended in China .

Side note: looks like Scooter Depot has generic Zongs in stock for ~ $1,300. http://www.scooterdepot.us/200cc-4-s...ike-p-168.html
The Lifan has been very inexpensive to own and very reliable and for a commuter / weekend "forbidden area" finder it fits the bill nicely....
