The Q4 made a very large difference. That's why I'm paying for one on the KLX also.

My hearing is worth it.

On the trail the louder pipes may be OK. It all depends on the engine load and RPM's, and the motor itself. Airbox design matters a lot too.

My CB175 has a quiet and smooth exhaust but a loud induction system at hig manifold pressures. Go figure.
When properly packed, the FMF TC2 meets the U.S. Forest Service sound level requirements; the FMF Powercore muffler does not. Proper muffler packing makes a big difference. Also, one should note the FMF TC2 comes with 2-stroke packing installed. This packing is not designed to withstand the heat of 4-stroke engines. Therefore, the initial packing in the FMF TC2 will deteriorate more quickly, becoming louder in the process.

The silencer packing material I recommended earlier is inexpensive, and will pack the FMF TC2 four times. This packing material is easy to use, and does a superb job with noise suppression; it is also very durable. Repacking the FMF TC2 is a very easy, and inexpensive job; I highly recommend it.
