I tried the wood block against the chrome cover in several spots. Really stuck! I hate to pry in between the surfaces for fear of marring something and causing a leak. Is this cover o ringed like the starter or does it have a standard gasket? Does the gear setup run anything but the starter? I'd like to get the gear out to verify the tooth # etc. I'll be in touch for parts. And yes. I am fully aware that the starter will need replaced!
