Did you check the gaps between the changed component and the original component? This happened to me with a scooter. Though, not as severe because the part(even though it was the same part number) had a slightly different teeth gap than the original and did not fit on the spline. That engine was a QMB139.
Though, the two subjects are completely different. It can still happen. Sometimes they don't machine the part to the original spec but sell it as so.
